Colin Cameron Award

I could not see any other thread about this nor was it mentioned in the Back To The Valley dinner thread and I think it deserves a thread of its own.

I would like to be the first to commend the people involved with deciding to turn the Fan Of The Year award into the Colin Cameron Award,
what a fitting tribute to someone who everyone associated with the club would call a legend,
Personally I never met him but I wished I had done,
whoever came up with this idea deserves a massive pat on the back as I said it is a fantastic idea and was really happy when I had this last night.

Fantastic idea. I didn't know we had a fan of the year award but great that CC is remembered in such a fitting way.
  • Nice touch.

Who won it this year ?
  • Seb Lewis for an unbroken run of close to a 1000 games

The idea came from KillerJerryLee/Ian Wallis and was enthusiastically approved by Colin's family
  • Very nice idea and fully deserving winner (that's going to be a tough act to follow). Was he there? If so, how did he celebrate - I'd love to think he did the worm :-)
  • The Fans Forum introduced the Fan of the Year Award in 2011 to be presented at the POTY Dinner to a fan who has contributed that little bit extra to the cause. The first year it was won jointly by Jean Tindall and Betty Hutchins who have run the coaches to away matches for a frighteningly long time. In 2012 it was won by Colin Cameron himself and this year by Seb. We need to think about the winner for 2014, so any ideas ?
  • I'd have an idea, but it would obviously be biased !

no bias at all, doubt there would be many others as worthy. Should definitely be on the list for consideration

  • oh yeah, and Seb did do the worm when he went up to receive his award !!

The person you are both thinking of was my recommendation in both years 1 and 2 of our involvement in the POTY event but after some discussion with said fan's friends ( who offered to accompany him) it was made clear that he would not wish to attend the dinner.

Elthamaddick- perhaps you'd message me if you believe this is open for discussion again. Thanks.

  • didn't realise that - more than happy to have a go at talking him round, I reckon I could
