"It could also add to costs because any move would need to meet the approval of supporters"
Why is there so much misunderstanding of the ACV? No move away from The Valley would require the approval of supporters. All that would happen is that the owners would be obliged to inform RGB in advance, and they in turn the Trust. That's it.
Perhaps it's because posts like this get it wrong?
The owners wouldn't have to inform the Trust they were moving unless they intended to sell the Valley - the assumption that they would is probably valid, but ACV works only on the basis that there is intent to dispose of (sell) the asset.
Sorry for adding to any confusion - sell, not move then. The point however still stands. I support the ACV and praise those who have worked so hard to secure it. Just getting a bit frustrated with those who somehow think that The Valley has suddenly become a listed building!
I note your comments and you can disregard mine as you wish.
I've been doing that for years. Ever since I heard you having a massive row on your phone with someone I presume was from RTM, probably Steve Sutherland, at a motorway service station on the way to Old Trafford. It was just after the club had announced an exclusive deal with Capital Radio and so was then the end for Charlton Chat/Charlton Live for RTM/Radio Thamesmead/Millennium Radio. That was a crap decision that probably brought in peanuts and is up there with Richard Murray's decision to sack Brian Cole.
Just catching up with this thread. Not that this is relevant to the thread. However, for the record. Richard Murray didn't sack me that was Peter Varney. I have not forgotten Richard shaking me warmly by the hand up at Everton shortly after. Peter and I are still on good terms and he made the decision as he saw it at the time. It is now 9 years ago and we have all moved on and I am pleased to say we now have the next best man on the pitch doing the job. :-)

It is reassuring to know I am not the only person outside the loop. But according to the last few pages of this thread, I definitely seem to be in a minority among Charlton Lifers in having no prior knowledge of who was behind the takeover.
It seems odd that many of those who rushed to comment with indecent haste on a unsubstantiated rumour about staff not being paid , showed such exemplary discretion when they were allegedly told the name of our would-be billionaire owners...

Really?!
Where on earth has that time gone?
I expect you were asleep for a large proportion of it :-)
If there is a counter bid, I would like to think that the accepted offer isn't just purely based on who coughs up the most cash, but also has the future of the club at heart.
Somehow I can't imagine Tony & co give a flying f**k about what happens to us once the cheque has cleared though.............

Was just going to self com-bust over the naivety of that first line then noticed you saved yourself...

Where could they possibly have got that idea from??
P.S. this isn't meant to be flippant...just a thought that things change whoever is in charge.
Only what I heard, so please do not shoot the messenger

It also seems that nobody really knows what exactly it is, that is going on.
I think this pretty much sums up the 40 odd pages of this thread, to save any newcomers reading the whole lot!
