Parish is doing an excellent job. I think he should take another two weeks deciding who should take charge and save a bit more money by having the kit man run the team. Then welcome Dowie back to the fold.
If Petrescu has rejected them purely because they weren't willing to meet his pay demands, as has been reported, then I fail to see how Pulis can now be back in the running considering Palace reportedly decided against him because he wanted too much money. No doubt he'll still be odds on by the end of the day, just because a couple of bookies have panicked after somebody stuck a fiver on him.
Whoever they end up with, Parish will no doubt claim that Mr XXXX was the perfect candidate, they had to work really hard to get him, he was their first choice, etc, despite it being blindingly obvious that they've been rejected by everyone from Tony Pulis down to the manager of the Sainsburys next to the Whitehorse Lane Stand.
Love it if he turned them down again (if indeed they are actually speaking to him, it's all speculation).
Was only 2 days ago Petrescu was 1/16 and a few days before that Aitor Karanka was massively odds on lets face it bookies have no idea at the moment with everyone rejecting them
If you've got a hunch about someone else now's the time to back it, 20/1 available for the next favourites Dowie, Dyche and Warnock, and the 33/1 for Millen looks like good value, presuming they'll pay out if he's only appointed to the end of the season. If Pulis falls through I really don't see how they can approach anyone else external, can't be many managers who'd welcome the chance to be the man Palace approached after getting turned down by everyone else (Dowie would still take it though).

What's the betting that the new manager will be touted as 'first choice all along', 'I didn't even have to think about taking the job', 'respect chairman/fans/players/stadium/Sainsbury's and so on. Whoever it is will know deep down their rank order.

Yes, and eventually they will find someone that will take the money irrespective. They will not care how low down the list they were when they sign for thousands and thousands of pounds a week.
Frankly I'd probably take the job if I were offered it. I'd probably finish no lower than Dowie would either. But then you can't finish lower than bottom. ;-)
Pulis obviously wants to get back in somewhere, but does he go for the first one that comes along a seemingly impossible job? Or wait for a team who in a month or so will be looking, and have half a chance, Fulham, Norwich? Or even wait for a big Championship club with more potential than Palace.

Don't mind losing dough if it's that idiot Dowie.

Would find it very hard to get excited about Pulis after all this, you really don't get the impression he actually wants the job:
