Quarter of the season gone, how are we doing ?

  • Took the kids to a young Addicks Q&A at the Valley on Tuesday. Simon Church and Dale Stephens both raved about what Sordell shows in training and that's there's no doubt he's a top player. Personally, think an F is a spot on rating. Get rid back to Bolton in January, he doesn't want to be here
  • The first quarter has been disapointing, given our last quarter of the previous season. Positively, the defence has really tightened up but we need to find a way to be more effective offensively. It is amazing what a few wins will do for you - but with only 2 so far, that simply is not good enough. We shouldn't panic though.
  • Cue Sordell to bang in a hatrick on Saturday!

I think I left myself just enough wiggle room in case that happens !

I guess the ball could inadvertently bounce off of him and into the net three times in one game....

great article. agree with nearly everything just feel its missing a bit about harriot.
I know he's not been anywhere near as good as the end of last season but firstly he's a young player so wont be consistent and secondly he was played out of position for a few games in an attacking midfielder role which didn't suit his game as he had less time to control the ball. before he knew where defending players would come from, but now being in the middle of the park they could come at you from all angels. this proved his downfall, with his confidence gone as well as his place from the team since then. poor from powell imo.

I believe the table at the corresponding point of last season looked like this:

    1 Cardiff City 13 9 1 3 26 15 +11 28 W W L W W
    2 Leicester City 13 8 1 4 20 12 +8 25 L W D W W
    ................................................................................
    3 Middlesbrough 13 8 1 4 21 18 +3 25 W W W W D
    4 Crystal Palace 13 7 3 3 23 21 +2 24 W D D W W
    5 Blackburn Rovers 13 6 5 2 19 14 +5 23 W W D L D
    6 Hull City 13 7 1 5 20 18 +2 22 W L W W L
    ..................................................................................
    7 Nottingham Forest 13 5 6 2 20 14 +6 21 W D W W D
    8 Wolverhampton … 13 6 3 4 18 14 +4 21 D D L W L
    9 Huddersfield Town 13 6 2 5 18 19 -1 20 L L W W L
    10 Brighton & Hov… 13 5 4 4 16 9 +7 19 D L L D D
    11 Leeds United 13 5 4 4 20 19 +1 19 L D D W D
    12 Blackpool 13 5 3 5 22 18 +4 18 D D L L W
    13 Derby County 13 4 5 4 18 18 +0 17 L W D D D
    14 Burnley 13 5 2 6 26 29 -3 17 L W W L D
    15 Millwall 13 4 4 5 23 24 -1 16 W D D W D
    16 Watford 13 5 1 7 17 21 -4 16 L L W L W
    17 Birmingham City 13 4 4 5 15 21 -6 16 W D D L L
    18 Bolton Wanderers 13 4 3 6 19 22 -3 15 L D W L D
    19 Barnsley 13 4 3 6 15 20 -5 15 L D W L L
    20 Charlton Athletic 13 3 5 5 14 15 -1 14 D D L W L
    21 Peterborough U… 13 4 0 9 16 20 -4 12 W W L L W
    .......................................................................................
    22 Sheffield Wedn… 13 3 3 7 18 23 -5 12 W L D L D
    23 Bristol City 13 3 2 8 24 28 -4 11 L L L L D
    24 Ipswich Town 13 1 4 8 10 26 -16 7 L L L L D

So, by comparison, having played 1 less game than at this stage last season we are 3 points and 4 GD worse off. So if we win our game in hand 4-0 we're on for a 9th place finish! :)

I'm sure if it happens you wouldn't be unhappy. The Forest game was one of the games I have seen, so that maybe why I have a more positive view than F.
