The West Ham 4.2 game has always been one of my favourites from the Prem years, remember the valley going crazy after Hunt`s goal. That and the Arsenal 1.0 when Deano saved that pen.
If the present team had 50% of the skill, heart, passion and guts shown in the West Ham game we would be cruising. John Robinson's face when he gets done in the box for the pen says it all.
Hate it when people question the passion or heart of the team just because we're going through a sticky patch. If you want to be reminded of what a gutless team looks like then cast your mind back 4 or 5 years. People were saying we had "got our Charlton back" when we ran away with the League One title. It's largely the same squad so that accusation this season (and last) always baffles me.
Love some of these videos, especially the older ones from before my time as a supporter.

Completely agree. This team don't have the ability and skill that we had say 10 years ago but they can't be accused of lacking passion/effort/heart/guts etc. Might question 1 or 2 individual players at times, but that was also the case back then (Ambrose, Thomas, Lisbie, some probably moaned that Jensen didn't tackle hard enough etc).
What I wouldn't give for Hunt and Mendonca up front, Jensen in midfield, Chrissie Powell at left back (he looks absolute quality) and Deano in goal these days. We would most certainly be at the top of the table instead of near the bottom.

All good. I really rated Mortimer. One of those players who had natural ability and ease with the ball at his feet. If anyone can load up his goal against Bradford at home in the 4-1 win, 97/98 play off season I would be much obliged.
Last one @ Boro I hadn't seen that since the day of the game , another huge Charlton following up there to see Tommy Caton (RIP) score the winner from the spot
Looking back at the 3.3 draw at Anfield I had forgotten just how well we played that day. We created loads of chances and got robbed when Hunt went through and rounded the keeper but the ref blew for a foul for us on Robinson. That would have put us 3.1 up. Deserved at least a draw that day and got it with late drama at the end.
I was quite sad watching the clips, recognising how far we have fallen in a relatively short time. I also don't think I personally recognised how good we actually were during our Premiership reign. Thanks anyway for sharing with us!
