On the 22nd of this month it would have been my dad's 70th birthday. Anyone wishing to comment or have a chat about what you remember I will be in the liberal club after the Wigan game ask for Eddie jnr
I knew Eddie from his LAC Rovers days, refereed them many times. He was a lovely bloke and a legend. Eddie Jnr I cant make the Wigan game but i'll catch up with later mate.
Eddie was a legend and despite the grief we gave him, always realised we were good lads at heart as he would often say when no one else was within earshot. He would allow us to fill the dungeon with beer at co-op before heading through to the wrong side of the river on the mutual understanding that we would taunt fatty t and the official away coaches by waving our beer at them when possible as they were dry very early. He treated us like his kids when we were on his coach and always looked after us, despite the songs. He was/is a true gent and a legend to all those who had the pleasure of knowing him, I can imagine being his Jr you know all this already. But from the boys on the back seat 'you'll never take the back seat' we will raise a glass to you Eddie, one in a million.
I remember when Lewis were brought back on board during the early 90's and Eddie drove us to Sunderland. The exhaust on the coach broke and the inside got drowned in fumes. We pulled into the services and Eddie patched it up with a ripped up coke can and some bandages and got us to the match just in time.
great memories of Eddie ...regards to your family Eddie Junior ... think I might have bumped into you with Trevor at the back of the east stand a couple of years ago
Eddie was chairman of LAC Rovers mid 70s onwards and whilst I remember him being under the affluence of inkerhol a lot of the time he was a lovely very good humoured guy and tolerated a lot of good natured ribbing from young footballers like me at the time
is there anyone on here who was a client of EDS Autos ?
Eddie was off the road for a while late 70s and was based at the garage and did a few car repair favours ..he did some welding to the sills/seals of my old Vauxhall victor ...he did a great job but managed to set light to the carpets in the process ....Car got through the MOT though ...carpets a different story!

great memories and only genuinely good ones
I picked up a Vauxhall Victor from Eddie for my bro-in-law in the 70's. The carpet caught light on the A2 and I had to pull over onto the hard shoulder and piss on it.
Many thanks too those who have left memories of Eddie. I'm sure there maybe people who are not on this but pass it on to anyone that went to watch Charlton away or played for LAC rovers many thanks Eddie jnr
I used to work at Barclays in Greenwich in the early 80's, next to Lewis Coaches booking office. Eddie, or Edgar as it said on his paying in book, used to come in regularly and was a real character, unlike his miserable boss Mr Lewis! Lewis were always doing cheap one day trips to France and three of us young lads at the bank did one to Dunkirk with Eddie as one of the drivers. We got completely rotten, held everyone up by always being late back to the coach, caused havoc at customs and generally pi%ed off all the other coach passengers with our drunken behaviour, mainly old people.
Eddie was as good as gold at the time but gave us lots of good natured grief every time he came in the bank for a good time afterwards.
I also remember refereeing LAC rovers a few times in the woolwich league when I did a few years Sunday league reffing in the 80s never knew why they were better behaved than most other teams ( less death threats per game than usual). With Eddie's involvement I now realise why they were comparatively gentlemen.
Eddie was still doing trips to France and Holland in the early 1990s.My mother and her friends went on them, she happen to mention my name to him on one of the trips his eyes light up and said is the bugger still kicking around. Happy Days indeed.

If this was you...sorry about the smell Bob :-)
yours "unbobly"
Great memories of 'Big' Ed driving the Lewises coach back in the 70s, with Chris Slattery as, "..... this is your 'appy courier".
And of course we formed LAC Rovers from our kickabouts at the motorway services' carparks.
My dad, Peter Page was manager and Eddie was chairman.
And Chris Slattery our skipper.
Great days. I've got a stack of memories. I haven't got the time at the moment but hope to post in a few days.
