Poyet to sign Poyet - Note article contains no quotes

edited October 2013 in General Charlton
or anything other of any substance other than that Poyet Snr is manager of Sunderland and Poyet Jnr is the son of Poyet Snr

Still at £2m I can see Ellis Short's hand being bitten off. If it was true.

When it is on the OS and all that.

EDIT and can you take seriously someone with a haircut like that.

  • 2 mil for a lad who, correct me if I'm wrong, hasn't made a first team appearance yet? In our current predicament we'd be mad to reject it. Wouldn't we??
  • If only it were true

Where was he compared to Fabregas? Never seen him play in person but at £2m, I'd take it and run. Shame it's a load of rubbish. :-)

Never mind the story, the Sunderland fans have picked up on our old friend Christmas Pudding head:

  • Alexi Sayle being attacked by a fanny. Lol love it.

    Classic
  • Got to agree with NLA, the reporter can't be real looking like this, and even if he is real then who is going to take him seriously?

Too right, maybe 'Tone' has bunged Jamie to start the rumour mill going although I thought I read somewhere that TJ and Poyet Snr had fallen out, still blood is thicker than water and perhaps he wants his boy out of here.

  • I have heard it said by a decent source that Diego is becoming one of the best midfielders at the Club. Therefore I don't mind whether this is true or not.
  • I'm convinced its nonsense but even at 2 million for youth player I would like to see us get a bit of use out of him first. Is he so like Cousins that both couldn't play in the same team ?

  • I'd be surprised if it is true.I can't find a link but hasn't Gus gone on record before to say that he wanted Diego to develop at a club where he wasn't involved.

If there was some truth in this then surely Diego would not have retweeted it.Didn't Diego sign a pro deal with us last year?Surely if he had have wanted to leave that would have been his chance.

Like SHG at some stage maybe the FA Cup Third Round I'd like to see him play in our first team or to go out on loan to a L1/2 club.

Can't see us playing 2 young CMs together but if he gets a chance and takes it like Cousins, why not. I'd like to see Cousins play a more box to box role. Might well go on to be a very good holding midfielder, but he's already shown he can add something when going forward.

Poyet has looked more of a Stephens type player in the few times I've seen him, tends to sit back but is comfortable on the ball. Like Cousins he also looks like he should be able to compete physically.

Isn't that the bloke who got nicked at Millwall vs Wigan for nicking a copper's hat?

Swear it isn't the first time I've seen that chap. Something to do with Millwall I'm sure. You can't be telling me there's two of these muppets roaming the streets.

Someone must be on the wind up - http://jamiesanderson.com/ <-- Looks like he's got a good head of hair here. I suspect he's done something to piss a mate off.
  • Poyet puts £2m in the coffers and Jiminez takes it and returns it to Poyet's back pocket to repay him
  • Sounds unlikely to say the least, but if CP got the cash in jan,,,, sell sell sell.
  • In fairness, Cousins has only made a couple of starts and I would value him higher than 2 million already.

Though a few months back would have snapped another club's hands off for putting that sort of bid in for him.
  • This is such a non story it is unbelievable. Firstly Poyet is not worth 2M. Secondly Poyet snr has said he is happy to have Poyet jnr develop at another Club. Thirdly I have watched Poyet jnr a lot of times and he is a good central midfield player. He is strong in the tackle can pass it ok has good leadership qualities and can head the ball. If people on here are expecting Steven Gerrard I am afraid you are going to be disappointed. If his name was Smith instead of Poyet, son of a football Manager, there wouldn't be half the fuss made. From what I have seen, Muldoon has more ability than Poyet. But Poyet is more physically developed.

Dick what about Bradley Jordan and Harry Gerard where are they in the central midfield pecking order? Can you see any of them making a breakthrough this season?

  • Muldoon is the one for me with the biggest potential
  • Sunderland would be a poor move for Poyet Jr.
They will get relegated this season, he will not reach his full potential at a club like that. I know Poyet Snr will apply his morals and try to get them playing football but ulitmatley that is a team full of yard dogs supported by moany northern monkeys who seem to be on their players back at every given chance.

Anyway, aren't we supposed to sell our youth products onto proper clubs like Liverpool,Arsenal & Newcastle and watch said players progress in European cup ties!?

ah bollocks, take the 2million, Slater!

Thats the mob up the road. Sunderland fans are pretty patient.

Bradley Jordan is ok but he is still down the pecking order. As he hasn't broken through into the first team yet,I doubt he will. Harry Gerard has got a lot of skill and a sweet leftfoot but he is lacking physically. The players that I think will push through into first team contention are Lennon, Poyet, Muldoon,Holmes -Dennis,if we sell Wiggins.

  • What about Archie Edwards dickplumb?

    Sorry. Just made me snigger

  • Last time I spoke to Diego*, he didn't feel comfortable working alongside his old man because of the relationship dynamic probably being different to that with the rest of the squad. There'd be unspoken discomfort, I'm sure.

He's a good player, easily the best I've ended up playing with and against, and you could tell he didn't move out of first gear. But £2mil? No. Fabregas? ... No. Well, hopefully, but not yet. He'll certainly have a career as a footballer, but he's not worth that much yet.

Also to the guy who said blood is thicker than water - you're using the phrase wrong. The original phrase is "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb", which means that any agreement is worth more than family bonds. So there you go.

*We went to school together and have kept in touch a little bit since.

He should be a comedian with a name like Archie Edwards. Where's me washboard. But seriously, he is going to be a very good player at left back or midfield. At left back he has got a lot of players ahead of him in Wiggins, Evina, Fox and Holmes -Dennis.
