  • interesting .. but you're going home pointless on Saturday Ricardo me ol china plate
  • The man talk a lot a sense. Get a feeling he has a soft spot for us, really wish he was playing for us on Saturday.
  • Really really like him, definitely has a soft spot for Charlton. The pop at the owners is also very telling.
  • Great interview. Not afraid to tell things as they are when it comes to the opposition. None of the usual "they're a good side, and they'll make it hard for us" etc etc. He thinks we're playing bad football and he's confident.

Really wish we had kept him.

Agreed. He did it whilst being respectful to the players and the manager too which was good to see, laying the blame where he sees it - and I do get the impression he would like to have stayed.

I think we're really missing him at the moment.
  • I can't listen to this at work....any chance someone can summarize what he said?

We had a strong finish to the end of last season, winning around 7 out of 12 or so - and had we managed to get a little bit more and make it in to the play offs - nobody would've wanted to play us. (Note, he was referring to us as "we")

However, we've been struggling so far this season - and it's down to the owners, who got rid of about 10 players, Ricardo included - and many of them were starting players. Including Haynes.

We've replaced them primarily with youth, but they may not be entirely ready for the Championship - they're good players, but you do want a team that has experience at this level and know the league. We've got a great manager, but really lack a certain amount of experience in/around the team right now.

We're struggling and really Blackpool should be putting the game away and getting 3 points out of us, a draw would be acceptable as they're away from home - but really they should be getting 3 points and going in to the international break positively.

Cheers Lucky. Sounds like a top bloke, and seems like he has a soft spot for us then!

Yet another telling comment about the owners...
  • Tells it like it is, can't argue with that.

    Top man.

Really wish we could have kept him, Waggy, Taylor etc.

You can bet that in a parallel universe in which Ric stayed, there is a Charlton Life Forum with a thread entitled: 'Fuller - good enough?'
  • fair interview.

I wish we had him in his prime. still a danger now though as he was when he was fit for us.

  • Looking forward to a good game...like a team who come to the Valley looking for three points
  • Really miss him when Yann is out. He gets it spot on in that interview.
  • Interview in the sun today about him by Jackson saying don't get into a tussle with him because he's probably stronger than any man he's seen. With us Ricardo had days where he was unplayable and

As long as they leave with zero!!
  • How do you defend against him! When he's one on one with you, you might as well not bother!

He did things with the ball at his feet that I've never seen before, it was laughable how he got past players at times!

Gutted he's not playing for us in this game, danger man IMO.

The type of player that can frustrate the hell out if you for doing nothing for 89 minutes and then produce a bit of magic to win the game for you, like Peterborough.

    Ha ha. very true!
  • So even people outside the club like Fuller know its the boards fault and not powells
when will the board realize this and sort it out

IMO he won the game for us last season when we played Blackpool away, he was unplayable, so I can see why they wanted to sign him, much as I love to see Ricardo in full flow I really hope he has a stinker today, and our defence and midfield have him sussed.

Same, I think the Forest game was crying out for either Haynes or Fuller.

Haynes as often it felt like Forest box was just crowded by players by the time we mounted an attack (I'm thinking of when Pigott/Sordell/Cousins all had a chance, before Stephens placed it over the bar) - and it would've been nice to have someone as pacey as Haynes who could get behind the defence with a bit of speed before they could all get back.

As for Fuller, his finishing was second to none at times - and he wasn't put off by opposition players. He could be in the box and he'd still keep the ball, preferring to take them on and walk it to the goal - although sometimes he'd unleash a shot from nowhere. (Strangely, Stephens reminded me of Fuller when he took a few players on in the box in the first half.)
  • Excellent reception for him today. Thought wood and morro dealt with him well though.
  • Delighted that my decision not to bet on him scoring paid off.
  • not a dig luckyred, but thought back to millwall and shittu, not haynes finest moment

Agreed, considering he was with us less than a full season and considering a few of the "lazy" comments made about him while he was here it was an incredible and well justified reception that he was given whilst warming up, just before the a game and at the end. There was also a lot of man love for him from our staff and players and as said elsewhere it looked like Jordan was pulling his nose after the whistle went.

Fans should NEVER get on powells back, blokes a good manager, The board are the ones messing our club up. Trying so save money bringing youth players through and poor freebies. If you were Harry Redknapp and you saw Church,Piggot,Harriot,Cousins,Wood,Pope, in the starting XI would you be worried?
