  • Erith Town made it 4 wins in a row beating AFC Croydon Athletic 2-1 at Erith Stadium. Was good to see some Charlton faces there.

Home this Saturday with Charlton not playing. May have some of that
  • I'll be at Hendon v Staines tomorrow night and Tiverton v Hendon on Saturday. It will be nice to have a couple of back to back league games (we've played 10 cup games so far this season).

The Southern Premier looks a weak league....which is just as well because we're not all that great ourselves. If we did get promoted to Conference South, we'd need to change about 12 players to stand a chance of survival.

    Too posh for me there.....

Tonight I shall be watching "Hendon" & Richmond v Oldham on the box with great interest. Some ex-Hendon players plus Chris Dickson in the Hampton team.
  • Will be back in the UK for Christmas and planning to take a Boxing Day game in with my dad, in the Wiltshire area. Planning to go to Swindon Supermarine v Salisbury in the Southern league second tier and was surprised that the latter team are currently managed by Steve Claridge.
  • Gutting for Hampton and Richmond to miss out on a replay.
  • Really enjoyed the Hampton game. Tom Lovelock was superb in goal but it was no surprise....he's rated as Hendon's best keeper since the great John Swannell (England Amateur goalie). Chris Dickson gave everything up front and it was good to see Casey Maclaren flirting with a red card every time he left one in on an Oldham player! Oldham had a lot of chances and should've had a penalty but Hampton also had plenty of near things too. Superb cup tie.
  • What was Yado Mambo like?

Didnt get to see the game as had to rush out last night, didnt even realise he was @ Hampton

Very iffy. Managed some good blocks but also did a diving header which bounced over his own bar and fucked up for the winning goal (was weak and got out muscled). The Hampton right-back (Miller-Rodney) was very good and Zak Joseph caused a few problems. Ironically, it was his mis-hit shot that lead to the break for Oldham's equaliser. If he'd stuck it 20 foot over the bar it would've been better! Chris O'Grady (remember him....didn't want to come to Charlton) made a difference when he came on for Ismael Miller.

    Good round up mate.
  • Mambo's basically playing at his level then rather than having been unlucky with injuries the last few years?

Am actually shocked he's 27 now - Still remember listening to a pre-season friendly against AFC Wimbledon when their commentators mentioned that he looked a monster of a player

Watched the BT Sport documentary on Corinthian Casuals last night. The story about the friendly in Brazil is crazy.

You know how to make a bloke feel old!

I remember seeing highlights as a kid of Hendon winning the FA Amateur Cup c 1963 or so and Swannell and David Hyde the Centre Forward were the two players that stuck out.

Disappointingly Mambo was wearing No 6 last night, I guess everyone's forgotten about the song!

BBC live text on the game made a poor joke at one point about it

Mambo again with the header away from under his own crossbar!

That must be clearance number five for Mambo.

1965 Hendon v Whitby Town. David Hyde with two and Jimmy Quail with the other.

  • That is so prehistoric, not one action replay of the goals. Although wish we could go back to that as Sky show about 8 replays from every angle and then we miss the kick off.
  • Saw Hendon beat Staines 5-1 last night. A Hendon player (Hippolyte-Patrick) scored a hat-trick including two overhead kicks!

Staines seem to have lost most of last year's squad due to their move to The Southern League and are struggling badly.

Is he any relation to Ricky Hippolyte do you know.
  • They change the club badge to MUFC colours, then try and change the kit.
Managers who got them up to conference forced to leave, whilst the little rich kids have their fun.
    Hope it goes tits up.

I don't know. But the scouts are already watching him; two overhead kicks and a weaving run and shot are sure to get people interested.

Pretty much my feeling. A lot of the article reads nicely - they try and build a community feel etc etc. But they instantly try to change the club into a sort of Mini-ManUtd. Why do that? There's no explanation but the air of ' hey we're famous and rich so we do what we want' hangs heavy over the new owners. Sod 'em.
  • Anyone at a loose end or want to avoid Bluewater tomorrow are welcome at Erith Stadium tomorrow ko 3pm, Erith Town are taking on K Sports. CAFC ST holders free entry.
  • Welling win again.

Also think the Ebbsfleet keeper is in for a long ban, apparently jumped into the crowd after todays game to start fighting Boreham wood fans!

Boreham Wood is a fucking horrible place to go as an away fan.

Good for him... Witnessed a lot of abuse towards him at some games.
