http://www.castrust.org/2013/09/thoughts-gay-charlton-fan/Apologies if this has been posted already but it deserves wider reading. I would hope that Charlton are among the most tolerant fans in the country but it's a complex subject. It's almost perverse to say that someone who makes a homophobic comment at a football match is not homophobic per se - but football does engender odd behaviour when people are caught up in the heat of the battle (and it may be that subliminal feelings come to the surface when you're trying to rattle an opposing player or fan) Having said that, there is absolutely no room for anything remotely homophobic to be said/chanted in a football stadium. That is just a fact and I don't think there's a serious counter-argument to it. I would no have no problem supporting any event that attempts to eradicate homophobic behaviour in football. What do others think?
