  • So who will be there?
  • Can't you get some good guests like the Eltham Addicks? ;-)
  • So who will be there?

I'm feeling sorry for you, so I'll say, yes :-)
  • Good guests, will see if I can pop along.
  • Thanks CE : - )

    See you there Badger.
  • a day too early for me. wish i could have gone
  • Sorry we can't make this but have a good evening, Henry & co.
  • have a really enjoyable evening everyone and tell us all about it tomorrow:)
  • Mark Gower spent 5 years in Wales playing for Swansea. A few clubs came in for him, when he was at Southend and his wife said she didn’t mind going anywhere, as long as it wasn’t Wales. However, Martinez was excellent, his attention to detail was outstanding. He knew so much about Mark & made him feel wanted, so he told the wife we’re going to Wales.

Mark feels that this will be his last season playing & although he doesn’t know what to do, he will start taking his coaching badges, because his wife has told him to.

Solly has had knee trouble for years. He’s already had 3-4 injections over the years (cortisone possibly). He’s little cartilage left in his knee. He’s been told to rest it & will be out for 5-6 weeks.

I asked about Kermy, but won’t comment here, even though it’s members, as I don’t want Millwall to know, whether he starts or not on Saturday. (Sparrows is a member).

Gower feels 3-5-2 suits the team due to having Wiggins, Evina, Wilson & Solly. Sometimes you have to play the style that suits the players you have.

Harriot & Stewart are excellent wingers, but are young & it’s doubtful they could play 46 games and therefore 4-4-2, is maybe not so good for us.

Jordan Cousins is a fine prospect, but needs to be brought through gently. If he’s thrown in at the deep end too much, it could affect his confidence, if thing go wrong.

Stephens is playing well & deserves his place. Gower doesn’t expect to start on Saturday.

Marvin Sordell was shocked at Bolton sending him out on loan. He wasn’t expecting it and I don’t think best pleased, as he was expecting to play at Bolton.

It’s taking him time to adjust and has knocked his confidence, being not wanted.

Possible reasons for the poorish early season form :-

Kermy wasn’t in as good as form as at the end of last season.

Solly carrying a knee injury & Wiggins recovering from a hernia operation.

Individual mistakes being punished, when last season sometimes not.

Nearly all the squad being out of contract at the end of the season, including at the time Solly “the player of the season” & your talisman, captain & 12 goal scorer Jackson.

Powell is not happy with the situation and would like more players signed up (Gower believes).

Up at Huddersfield Andy Hughes was sitting in the directors box and Kevin Blackwell was not being allowed in by the stewards. Blackwell shouted to Andy to vouch for him & Hughes said he’d never seen the bloke before, so he didn’t get in.

Dillon Phillips, 18, has been at the club for 8 years and came through the ranks with Ollie Muldoon & Harry Lennon.

The biggest crowd he’s played before, was the semi final at Old Trafford went we lost in ET to Man U.

He shares keeping duties with Pope who plays as an over age player.

Dillon anticipates being sent out on loan at some stage & would welcome this to further his development.

Nathan Jones was excellent. He was enthusiastic & passionate and “there would be no one better”, having said that Jason Euell is the perfect replacement and is doing well.

Dillon’s tips to be successful are Poyet, Lennon & Muldoon.

My personal favourite question of the night :-

Did the players know which ground is below sea level – classic :-)

Thanks CE, sounds like a good night.

Gower's thinking on reasons for the poor start are interesting as is his take on Powell's view on the contract situation.
  • Thanks for posting Covered , i would have liked to have gone , but nearly passed out at the checkouts in Tesco's , with a bad case of manflu , don't think you would have thanked me.

You learn something new every day on CL !

For me, it's how to spell "the" !!!

  • Thanks CE .. REALLY bad news about Solly .. so young to have such a career threatening potential disability

May also explain why no other clubs have been in for him, when other right backs at similar age and level have moved on to PL teams.

very true .. I just hope for Solly's sake that he can possibly have surgery to sort this out .. when knees are 'shot' that often means end of career .. one can only have so many cortisone and/or pain killing fixes
  • Seems doubtful if his cartilage is mostly gone

mmmm .. hope you're wrong, but suspect you're right (:<)
  • It's obviously a situation that the club feel they can manage to offer him a 4 year deal. I agree that this is probably one of the reasons we have managed to hold onto him, while players like Hunt and Brayford get moves to Prem sides and Trippier and Byram seem to be attracting more attention than him as well.
  • Dillion spoke about how lonely it can be sometimes as a goalkeeper, he also mentioned that when he was younger he aspired to David Seaman & David James.
Said that at the Man u game a crowd of about 5,000 turned up but because the stadium is so big looked it like about 200, also said he thought that we had enough chances to Beat Man u.
  • CE could you possibly inbox me what was said about Kermy? Feel free to ignore ...
  • The solly situation didn't sound good. Gower Mentioned Ledley King as an example after so many injections.
