Plus wheres the best place to spot numbers on the new line : - )
  • the crossrail site should be there for your every crossrail need.

They've still got to find the money to build the bloody thing in the first place, mind.
  • I thought that Charlton was getting a crossrail station?

Any idea when the Woolwich DLR will open?
  • Early 2009 for the DLR in Woolwich

They had two options - route it through Charlton or through the Royal Docks, and went for the latter, much to the grief of estate agents round my neck of the woods.

Speedy exit from Woolwich via the DLR is in 2009, I think.

Nothing is new though. In the good old "railway mania" days of the mid nineteenth century, there was many a station project in this area and elsewhere funded by property developers. Chelsfield is one that springs to mind. It just seems the logical thing to do. I seem to remember somewhere that the central part of DLR was part funded by the Canadian Developer that owned the Canary Wharf development. It makes great sense cost wise but less good sense as the optimum route.
  • That is great news - Woolwich needs all the help it can get. Unfortunately, by the time they build the station, I may have retired. I've also heard that they are going to stop the ' freedom pass' [free london transport for the over 60s] in a couple of years. Anybody else heard this rumour?
  • I'd be suprised (freedom pass) the 'London Council's' pay for it via a tariff on all parking fines issued in the capital; I can't remember eactly but something like 20p/parking fine issued goes to pay for this.
