With or Without Jacko

edited September 2013 in General Charlton
Good to see Johnnie Jackson back yesterday and i always think we are a better side with him in the side than without him.

Looking at his stats in his 115 league appearences since coming in on loan to replace the injuried Grant Basey in February 2010 it makes interesting reading

115 League Apps (Includes 4 Subs apps) 37 Goals. (up to and including yesterday)

Won: 58 games 50.43%
Drawn: 28 games 24.35%
Lost: 29 games 25.22%

Points gained in 75% of league games when he plays.

WITH

Season 09/10: 4 games. 3 wins and 1 draw. No goals.
Season 10/11: 30 games. 13 wins, 8 draws and 9 defeats. 13 goals (Includes 6 pens)
Season 11/12: 36 games. 25 wins, 7 draws and 4 defeats. 12 goals (Includes 5 pens)
Season 12/13: 43 games. 16 wins, 13 draws and 14 defeats. 12 goals.
Season 13/14. 2 games. 1 win and 1 defeat. No goals.

WITHOUT

Season 10/11. 16 games. 2 wins, 6 draws and 8 defeats
Season 11/12. 10 games. 5 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat
Season 12/13. 3 games. 1 win, 1 draw and 1 defeat.
Season 13/14. 2 games. no wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat

Interesting that in the 13th place 10/11 season he was ever present up to the Notts County game in February and we never saw him again that season due to injury. After that game we had played 30 games and had 47 points. In the remaining 16 games without Jacko we only gained 12 points.

  • how does it compare to when he doesn't play?
  • got to be with .. he brings a generally cool head, organisational ability and a bit of control to the team

    See above

  • Definitely with assuming fit.
  • His scoring record for us is incredible, especially if you take into account he spent a fair while playing at left back when first here.
  • So we are definitely worse off without him looking at that, the only season where the stats without him are generally the same was the promotion season, which to be honest doesn't tell us a lot seeing as we won it with a record points haul.

He is talismanic, looks to be a great character loved by all the players as well as the fans, and every time I have seen or heard him in a n interview I have thought what a great pundit or host he would be in the future
  • Yes, looking at his career stats, the older he gets the more he scores. By the time he's 40 will be on a goal per game.

    14 Games at left back
  • This season he could become the first player to aggregate 50 goals in a Charlton shirt since Carl Leaburn. That shows his value in my opinion.

  • With , for me, without a shadow of doubt.
  • As a captain think he is the best we have had since kinsella
  • An exact 1 in 3 goal ratio. Despite 11 penalties, still a very, very good goals return for a CM, especially as some games have been at LB.
  • Can't believe we are asking the question. Definitely with when fit.
  • I think those stats make sense - what he gives us is goals from midfield and quality dead ball delivery. His corner yesterday set up our second. So of course we miss him - but important to have at least one player with a good engine playing with him.

    This
  • With, no question. The only surprise yesterday was when he met that half volley and instead of it nestling in the back of the net it went high over the bar, apart from Yann, Jacko would be the one I would've put money on to bury a chance like that
  • Think it would be interesting to see similar stats on all the squad over the last couple of years. As per the other threads, him Stephens and Pritchard look a good set up in centre mid.

It's not the case of why I was asking the question. It was just to show by looking at the stats shown above how important Jacko is to the side when he's fit
  • With, for me.

Was sure I was about to be celebrating when I saw him teeing up!

    Anyone in particular?

  • He is a game changer. So many times we have been a goal or two down and it's Jacko that's started the fight back.
