    Well done Seth, thanks.

Why do people rise to Golfie?

Hopefully some of the performances have given CP food for thought for Saturday. Be interested if we can get a report on Hamers performance from people who actually saw it.

We were losing so I wanted to kick the cat, but I have no cat so rising to his comments was much more satisfying. I think........

Fair enough ... Golfie the Cat, has a ring to it!
  • Forgot to say thanks to Seth for the updates. C'mon people, we were away at reasonable Championship opposition, and with a mixed up side, we turned in a good performance. My only worry is that like Oxford, all the old faces will drift back in, and the team that did well will be mixed. I'll do my controversial bit now, and say I think Yan could go on the bench, as he either is'nt getting the service, or is off color, but it's a change we could try.
  • Let it go people, move on , we should be immune from disappointment by now, my son said to me at 2-1 up, Dad, who do you want in the next round, I said , don't count your chickens son, I think he now knows what that phrase means.
  • Conceding multiple goals a game is still worrying, but the performance was better than others which is something to take from the game.

I agree I don't rate hamer that highly either but your not allowed to voice opinions on here even though its a 'forum' used for that very matter

Everyone is allowed to voice opinions, but everyone else has opinions too. If you say something daft, there's bound to be lots of people wanting to come back at you. It's not a conspiracy, just life.
Maybe but to be called a clown and a twat and being told not to bother with Charlton anymore is taking it a bit too far mate.
Agreed. If it were the first time, or an isolated incident. it isn't, and it isn't.
So what if you don't agree with them though? What gives you a reason to respond back in a ridiculous way? There is a lot of fans that post on certain fourms I don't agree a lot of the time but if you gave an constructive opinion back you may change their mind.

To call them names under the Sun and mocking them is ridiculous.
  • Shocking tactical awareness - surely you change the shape of the team if your opponent changes? - a good chance blown tonight. This has to change. Our manager was a defender!!
  • Ill be gutted if they get a glamour tie. Pissed off with the result but not the performance by all accounts. The only downside is the morale of players....it just isn't going for us at the moment.

This! Feel tonight could have been a real moral booster
  • You're better off out of this cup anyway, imo this cup should be scrapped now, how Bradford made it to a major final being a L2 side just shows the Premiership and even Championship sides don't really take it seriously anymore.

Scarp this cup and the Johnstones paint trophy and bring the F.A cup back to life by giving the winners a champions league place and making the Premiership qualification top 3 only.

But we've had 'pathetic'...'gutless'...and 'hamer never makes a save'. I'm not sure what type of response you expect?...they've been given the exact reply they deserve.

I think this is a critical point, we need to get the defence playing together and getting clean sheets. I'd be happy with a 0-0 draw on Saturday, with 3-5-2.

  • I think golf has got the reaction he wanted

I probably share his opinion of hamer but that's beside the point

    We move on...

  • The tide will turn with effort like that piggot sounded really good and charlton life desends into suicide and hate

It is an opinion which unfortunatly you have to accept whether you agree with it or not.
  • On coach home. A spirited performance but lost thanks to some poor goalkeeping and a bit of bad luck with a deflected goal to make it 2-2 and getting caught on the break for the 3rd. We had much the better of it before Stephens' low free kick put us ahead but Hamer should've done better with a low shot down at his near post for the equaliser.

Sordell put us ahead with volley but that was as good as it got. He was getting a lot of stick frm the crowd after a yellow card challenge and walked straight down the tunnel at the end without bothering to acknowledge the fans.

There were good perforrmances from Wood annd Pigott and it was good to see Jacko back. Said goodbye to the stewards at the end saying we'll see you in 3 weeks. It'll be worth it just to sample the excellent chicken balti pies again.
  • i agree that hamer makes more mistakes than we would like but some of them have to be put down to the defence in front of him this season, something has clearly gone wrong there. i think morrison could do with being dropped for a few games as at the moment it seems as though his place is always guaranteed and he knows it. make him fight for his place. anyway we take the positives such as the good performance and move on

sadly we are playing Leicester! No clean sheet for another week.

No, it isn't. That's sort of the point of this place. Others have the right to challenge your views as much as you have the right to express them. The whole 'it's my opinion, you can't say anything' thing doesn't wash. I don't think VG's comments are the ridiculous ones in the past 10 pages
  • Disco, you don't have to accept anything mucker. When someone says something as silly as 'they have never seen someone make a decent sav'e its obvious what people are going to think. When that person only pops up when we are losing, it winds people up. Of course there are limits on how people post to each other, but golfie has a thick skin and specialised in this stuff for 7 years now. It's all part of the backdrop.

How is 'Hamer never makes a save' an opinion?????

There was nothing to take from the game - the boss got it wrong again.
  • plenty to take from this game and move forward to get three points on saturday

At 2-1 Powell should have gone 4-5-1 and defend like merry hell and counter attack with Sordell chasing the ball up field. Curbs had a habit of packing the defence in these sort of games and nine times out of ten it worked.
  • The tide will turn with effort like that piggot sounded really good and charlton life desends into suicide and hate

    The season is back

Agreed. Our players are our players, they are what we can afford, some days they will be very bad, some days they will be very good. If they were consistently very good they probably wouldn't be playing in the Championship for Charlton or anyone else and if we could afford better then we would have better. What some lack in consistency/skill they make up for with effort and that effort is what got us to 9th place last season and as stated by NLA, the tide will turn. We can snipe at others opinions and name call but at the end of the day, we are all Charlton fans aren't we? We are Charlton, we've had more bad times than good and we've had much worse results than tonights. If any of us wanted our team to win trophies every season we wouldn't support Charlton would we? I will always support Charlton and always support any player, good or bad, who plays for us. That's me off my soapbox now, thank you and goodnight :)
  • And then powell would have been slated for going defensive by quite a lot on here

Our defense currently isn't good enough to just sit back and hope for the best.

Really? Did Curbs get a lot of stick for doing this then?
  • Some positives tonight so let's just use it and build from here. COYAs!
  • look at the facebook comments on the Club page, hahahah, it can cheer you up, Facebook fans are some of the most amusing people in the world
