I was there, hanging on to the railings on that little piece of terracing between the west stand and the covered end. I was more interested in what the crowd was doing in those days ( I was only 9) and can vaguely remember a massive fight on the East Terrace.
  • I stood on the railings on the East Terrace aged 9. I must say I don't remember a big bundle. In fact I don't remember much about the game. I know we were head to head with Palace at the time for a promotion place along with Brian Cloughs Derby County.

I seem to remember that we needed to win more than they did and in the end they pipped us for promotion.
  • any more for the railings at the front?
  • My 21st birthday !!!!

Must have been there think I was on the East Terrace little Nigel near me kept shouting out Charlton Pathetic in response to our chants of Crystal Paralysis. Incidentally VM would have been in front of the 'Courage sign' terracing I reckon.
  • Swap Went for Keirs & start Tees & thats my favourite team
  • My 21st birthday !!!!

    Blimey!
It was my 12th birthday and I was a little Charlton skinhead.
  • I was 8, we stood under the floodlight pylon next to the covered end....I remember thinking later that year that the crowd against Derby looked a lot bigger through an 8 year olds eyes....my memories for that season were dominated by the away games in the FA Cup against Palace and Arsenal
  • My Mum & Dad's wedding day - 44 years today! Dad was annoyed he couldn't go to the game and he recalls sending his best man out for the paper that was produced in the evening to get the score.
  • i was there with my Dad. we used to stand under the flood light on the old stand side opposite end from the CupBoard End.

the crowd totals stopped at 32K for years so it isnt a new thing re crowd figures being reported wrongly

  • I was 11,dont remember seeing many palarse there. Ray Crawford in instead of Matt Tees? Crawford was a really bad signing.
  • My Mum & Dad's wedding day - 44 years today! Dad was annoyed he couldn't go to the game and he recalls sending his best man out for the paper that was produced in the evening to get the score.

When my nan and grandad got married in the 30's, the ceremony was around lunchtime, then all the men went to charlton (in their wedding clobber) whilst the women prepared the food for the evening.
  • Harry Gregory was our host in Legends before the Millwall game, he still enjoys a laugh.
