Stevenage FC Fan here in peace.

Hi all.

Stevenage fan here in peace.

Totally understand this has no direct relevance to Charlton Athletic but I'm just trying to reach out to as many football supporters as possible.

Just wanna promote a charity walk myself and 10 other Stevenage fans are doing in August in memory of our former player Mitchell Cole and raising money for his families chosen charity, the Cardiomyopathy Association or CMA for short. We are starting on a friday at Oxford Uniteds stadium and returning to the lamex stadium in Stevenage in time for kick off of our 1st home game of the 2013-14 season, Oldham at home on the 3rd of August. Roughly 65 miles in about 21 hours............................we think.........................we hope

When Mitchell passed in December last year obviously it was a total shock. Our club held a benefit game in his memory and it was great to see a fans from many clubs there showing their support.

We are wearing the shirts from the 11 football clubs Mitch represented during his career. They are Norwich, West Ham, Southend, Northampton, Grays, Stevenage, Oxford, Hitchin, Biggleswade, Arlseley and Stotfold. All shirts will have COLE 21 on the back (21 being Mitch's squad number at the Boro).

If anybody would like to make a donation to the CMA charity then please do so through the attached link.

My intial target was £210 but now I am aiming for £2100 (perhaps being a bit to optomistic). Please help me come as close as I can to this amount.

Good luck for the 2013-14 season and thanks for your time and support

Kind regards

  • Very good luck mate it was so tragic when Mitchell passed away! Very good cause
  • Cheers both, yer it was a tragedy.

    Hows Laurie Wilson getting on???
  • Reserve right back behind Chris Solly in the pecking order. He's done ok at best, but overall a little disappointing.

Harsh. Was a time last season when ppl were saying he was the only definite starter.
  • Good luck mate. Seems as though your club is very into community works and causes as ours is.
Recently supported a Stevenage fan who went to Kenya to do some great work out there.

He is positively awful. Good luck with the walk!
  • Good luck with the walk.

Wilson took a few games to find his feet, especially as he was being played at RB, but by November/December he looked dangerous down the right wing.

Then he got injured and just looked ineffective after his return.

    What?!
    Where?
    How?!
    Wilson is s***!!!

    On a lighther note;
    good luck to M4M!
  • Good luck. This cause is close to my heart as well because Mitchell played for my local non league side Biggleswade Town a couple of seasons ago and his death came as a big shock . I was at the Biggleswade Town v Stevenage friendly a couple of weeks ago played in the memory of Mitchell Cole .
Good luck with the walk and I hope you raise all the money.
  • Donated.

Best of luck. Always used to watch Stevenage and was at the fa trophy final where cole scored. Good club.
  • Thanks all for your donations and positive words about my club, its always good to hear. We are a small family club who are just enjoying being a football league club (took us long enough to get here) but we living the dream :)

    Bedsaddick.

I was at the Stevenage friendly away to Biggy town and we raised about £350 walking around with some buckets, great effort, great set up and great little club. Alot better than some of the non league grounds I have been to.

Perhaps we can loan Wilson back ;)

Thanks again to you all :)
