clearly hadn't taken into account watching the boring stuff we had in the last two seasons...whatever the outcome of our fight to stay up, i can honestly say this has been an interesting season that's made it worthwhile going to the game again...i've even been to 4 away games as well...in recent years it probably would have taken me 4 seasons to make that claim...

May you never make your bed out in the cold
May you never lose your temper if you get in a bar room fight
May you never lose your woman overnight

Used to sing it to the kids to get them off to sleep when they were younger...poor buggers never recovered from the assault on their eardrums...
MAY YOU NEVER
And may you never lay your head down
Without a hand to hold
May you never make your bed out in the cold.
You're just like a great strong brother of mine
You know that I love you true
And you never talk dirty behind my back
And I know that there's those that do.
Oh please won't you, please won't you
Bear it in mind
Love is a lesson to learn in our time
Now please won't you, please won't you
Bear it in mind for me.
And may you never lay your head down
Without a hand to hold
May you never make your bed out in the cold.
Well you're just like a good close sister to me
You know that I love you true
And you hold no blade to stab me in the back
And I know that there's some that do.
Oh please won't you, please won't you
Bear it in mind
Love is a lesson to learn in our time
And please won't you, please won't you
Bear it in mind for me.
May you never lay your head down
Without a hand to hold
May you never make your bed out in the cold.
You're just like a great strong brother of mine
And you know that I love you true
And you never talk dirty behind my back
And I know that there's those that do.
Oh please won't you, please won't you
Bear it in mind
Love is a lesson to learn in our time

May you never lose your woman overnight
May you never lay your head down
Without a hand to hold
May you never make your bed out in the cold.
May you never lose your temper
If you get in a bar room fight
May you never lose your woman over night
May you never lose your woman over night
May you never lose your woman over night.
Absolutely. Didn't Dylan write the song after his own son was born?
I remember a chap, who you may possibly be familiar with, called Trevor Lucas going on about how he hated Kipling's "If". That poem is full of if you can do this, and you can do that , then I'll think of you as a man, whereas Forever Young is full of what I'd really like to say to my son.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young
Forever young is, to mind, a blessing and I often used part of it as a message to parents of newly born children.
Nice version on The Last Waltz with the Band (best band in the world, ever)
May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.
May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.
May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.
The Last Waltz - Great band, great film. A shame they jacked it in so early, although I'm sure it didn't feel like that at the time. I think that Dylan only sings two verses in the film?
Fairport Convention - never got into them.
Haven't watched the Last Waltz for ages. Had an old video off the telly but must really get a proper DVD of it. I guess the Band had been together for ages as the Hawks and then the band when they packed it in. Better to burn out than to rust.
Sandy Denny's voice + Dave Swarbrick rocking that fiddle.
I know, years ago. Great festival moshing.
LOL!
Ah yes!- happy days!
Me, Jools Holland's younger and more talented brother Chris, the country's best young blues guitarist Terry Lewis, Jools's MD and lead tenor player Phil Veacock and assorted other ace muso's are in an all-star band (plus me) at the Amersham Arms on Friday night around 10 pm. The only tenuous link is that we rip the Meters off quite a lot, who are on the same part of the musical map as The Band.
If you'd like to come along, email me for a flyer at jonvanleer@gmail.com and you get in for £4.
Incidentally, the Hales flag going sideways was my fault, I was looking after the first wheelchair space at the North West corner as it came round, and I just forgot to let go. Sorry.
