Charlton Aggro song

A neighbour (Arsenal unfortunately) told me he went to The Valley occasionally in the 70s and recalled this song from one particular match. It was news to me. Anyone remember it?

Said Bertie Mee
To Bill Shankly
"Have you heard of the North Bank, Highbury ?"
Shanks said "No,
I don't think so,
But I've heard of the Charlton aggro

yes and a few other variations to do with the taking of the north bank.
  • What was the one that mentions Matt Tees & "millwall are in for a thrashing" ?
  • My dad sings stuff like this all the time, him and his brother used to be proper Charlton aggro in his teens (mid to late seventies) even got led around the pitch at a game to chants of 'Charlton aggro, Charlton aggro, oooh ohh ooohh ohh!' When they decided to have a fight in the middle of the away fans on the famous valley terraces 'for a laugh'

? is better than Yashin and millwall are in for a thrashing.

Think it ends with "Charlie Wright is better than Yashin and millwall are in for a thrashing", can't remember how it starts though.

Wheres "SoundAs" when you need him ?

    It ended something like,
We walk with a wiggle, and we walk with w*nk,
We took the Arsenal, North Bank.

They don't write 'em like that anymore :-)

The question used to be: "Who's up Mary Brown?" - and the answer was: "Tommy, Tommy Docherty..."

  • `Come and have a go at the Charlton aggro'
to any away fans who headed towards the Covered end.
  • Other songs which my granny used to sing when she tucked me into bed at night-
"Come on if you think you're hard enough"
"You're leaving in a London ambulance"
"You're gonna get you're ****ing heads kicked in"
Now she only sings me "Red Red Robin", and it doesn't get me off to sleep at all.
  • One chant that I remember which I could never work out was
Mars Bars, Beanos and Ray Tracey
  • I know a friendly copper his name is PC Jim........
  • Zigger-zagger, zigger-zagger, oi, oi, oi! And the guy with the hoarse voice, leading the chant-and-response: "Give us a Cee-ee-ee-ee", "Cee-ee-ee-ee"; "Ay-ay-ay-aitch", "Ay-ay-ay-aitch"....
  • You'll never make the station!!
  • Over there, over there
    And do they smell ....
