If only we'd have Pards all season. Since he took over we've won 4, drawn 3 and lost 4 in the league, an average of 1.3636 points per game, which over a whole season is 52 points.
We have 8 games left, at that rate, we'll finish on 38 points, touch and go whether that'll be enough for safety. However the 11 games so far have included the current top 3, whilst the 8 remaining don't. In fact if you take liverpool out of the equation we're not playing anybody in the top 6. 3 of the 8 are against teams in the bottom 6.
[cite]Posted By: Salad Spinner[/cite]You should've saved that link until April 10th - we will be top three in the form guide by then.
Did the iGod tell you that too, Salad? Hope you're right...!
iGod came up with "Puff The Magic Dragon" - well the three-part harmonic form of the song clearly implies we will be top three in the form table ... and the dragon is clearly a reference to St George, thus St George's Day - April 23rd - but to achieve that we'd have to win nearly all our games until then and so would actually be likely to be top three after the Reading game - which is confirmed by iGod's choice of a song that parents like "Reading" to their children.
Did iGod teach you Latin as well as semaphore? - very impressive!
I can think of a slightly simpler interpretation for that choice - less childlike, more to do with hallicinatory substances that might be required to imagine us in the top three...
We will beat Wigan, Reading, Spurs and Sheff Utd at home grab draws at Everton, Man City and B'Burn and lose at L'pool giving us 42 points. My concern is that might not be enough to save us. 40 points is usually enough but who knows this season
I'd be chuffed if we did get to 42 points. Can't see both Man City and Sheffield Utd getting to 40 even. One might, but the odds are seriously stacked against both. Man City are struggling for goals, only 2 in last 4 games and both against a weakened boro (first by selection and then by injury). Shef Utd have also got a problem scoring, especially with Hulse now out.
Just can't see either scoring enough (and keeping clean sheets often enough, as neither have won many games they've conceded in) to get past 40 points.

Quod erat demonstrandum.
