How can you have a Dennis Rommedahl thread with only positive comments? That's a bit like starting a thread about Sorondo and only asking for comments about the matches he played in!
For what it's worth, I think he had a great half - and that run was electric! Credit to Pardew for the change at half time, although not sure if it was entirely tactical or not. Dennis added a real threat to the right and ZZ, who looked a bit off the pace in the first half, really came into his own in the second. Top stuff!
Deserved a penalty for the man-handling he got from duff. First contact might have been just outside, but duff just grabbed his shirt and hauled him back. Think that might have influenced the other penalty decision and ZZ's penalty was probably far less of a penalty than the foul on Dennis. Nice to see him take his man on and run into the box. More of the same please for the rest of the season!
Might of been mistaken but I think he actually did not bother to pull out of a tackle with Parker, instead of doing his fairy jump up in the air like a girl. Personally I like Dennis so don't ever tend to slag him anyway. When he is in full flow he really is exciting. More of the same please..!
I'm probably going to get slated for this BUT here goes anyway, Denis had a great half yesterday and gave the barcodes a real fright with his pace, however, given the level he has played at and his experience he should know this but I hope to God ZZ takes him to one side and explains that when you are running at pace and can get into the box and someone touches you before the ball go down quicker than a two bob tart.
It may not be sporting, it may not be right but it's football and it works. To my mind the only time Denis stays on his feet and tries to be big and strong is when he doesn't need to.
[cite]Posted By: Weegie Addick[/cite]Shakes head in despair. Poor Dennis can never get it right for some people can he?
I think you miss my point. He did get it right yesterday. I just feel that he is always more effective running across the face of goal at speed than trying to get to the by-line from where his delivery is often woeful. What I am trying to say (obviously badly) is that rather than trying to ride challenges and score himself he may be more effective by pulling in the defenders to make a challenge which in many many cases would result in a free kick close to the edge of the box at the very least. In evidence I give you Gareth Barry at the Villa game where Denis did exctly what I am trying to describe with the right result.

Apologies if I misunderstood you. JW. It just seems half the time he's criticised for not putting himself about, then you're saying he doesn't go down easily enough! Actually when you see it on TV, after his mazy run when he beat 3 or 4 of them yesterday, he realised he had lost control, so barged into the Geordie player (can't remember who it was now) to make sure he got a free kick on that occasion.
agreed, Rommedahl has a great World Cup Tourney. He was very lively on the right wing and he scored a big goal too. Olympiakos is a good fit for him, i think he really wants Champions League Football.
Rommers was great when he was on fire, I remember the first half at Craven Cottage about 4 years ago, skinned the full back time and again, he looked like the player we all knew he could be.
What was that quote from Curbs? Stop me if this appears earlier in the thread. Something like you'd only get a good 45 minutes out of Dennis during a game, the problem was you didn't know which half that would be in.

I think it was on tv when Curbs came to the Valley the first time after he left!.........
He seemed to be as 'frustrated' as the rest of us...To me will always go down as an 'If only' like Ambrose, Lisbie, Sam,.....

(Was that positive enough?)
*grits teeth* :-)
He might be a lightweight but I still say that the sight of him running at defenders at full pace is a good thing for us.
That run yesterday when he went past 3 or 4 before being brought down, great stuff.
Still think he is best as a sub for the time being though.

Watch your positiveness meter pal!! Running close. ;-)

Anyone else feel the same?

i am sure we had his lazy twin brother for a while not sure if they were truely related
That Germany number 5 needs shooting. Unbelievably sloppy play.
Rommers did really well to read that situation, nip in, and go for goal.
