  • can we afford to be that picky?

    He can't afford us!

  • Anyone still need to sign up for the Trust ?
  • I'm just going to stick my fingers in my ears and sing "la la la la" until this rumour goes away.

    All together now .....
  • Bates is too shrewd to waste his money on us .....
  • Like a single blonde overweight 45 year old woman I scream "bring back the Turkish Kocs"
  • This has happened before? Total BS. Hopefully Bates will dispel the Rumour like he did last time i think.
  • better the devil you don't know I think.
  • Did us a favour back in 1983 when he agreed to bring the Chelsea game forward so we could bank the gate receipts (for the young among you...we were totally skint and barely had the doh to pay the wages and Chelsea were on a great run of form....so suited both parties).

My dad worked with him for a while and really liked him but I know others who have worked at Stamford Bridge who say he was incredibly rude etc etc.

None of which really helps in the "do we want him running the club" discussion but hey ho....
  • Be careful what you wish for, how much debt were Chelsea in before he got out 90 million?

  • At 82 years of age, surely he should be counting his money and relaxing on a beach somewhere

Wasn't that risdale rather than bates? Anyway , would TJ amd MS benifit from his involvement and would in be in the best interest of their investment - if no (which I think is highly likely) then they won't want him here

As the Man said in the orthopaedic shoes- " I stand corrected!"
  • GO AWAY BATES!!!
  • Relax - this is just a rumour started by Razil to boost Trust membership.
  • Ignore. It is not going to happen. Bates is a shrewd (tight) businessman and would not part with our lowest for sale price.

Daily Mail. Get a grip people.

    Mick Collins...
Charles Sale...according to the page itself.

Perhaps they meant previously unheard of multi-billionairre Kevin Bates, to go with the Ken Cash in the story!
Charles Sale is an anagram: "He scares all".
  • GO AWAY BATES!!!

    Steady............;)
    Come home Father!

  • At least we'll get standing back at The Valley.

Charles Sale is also an anagram for "A Cash Seller"...subliminal or what???

  • At least with Bates at the helm we could one day aspire to the same dizzy heights as Leeds..

  • Wasn't it bates that came up with the splendid wheeze to divide the sramford bridge pitch up into small plots and them to the Chelsea fans; and wasn't it bates that sold chelsea to ambramovitch when he'd supposedly come to london to look at spurs ?
  • Us older fans won't forget what he did for us back in 83 (or 85?). I've liked and defended him since. However, I would'nt want him at
our Club today, I don't think he'd part with much of his money and in fact I agree he's too shrewd a businessman to invest in Charlton.
    It won't happen.
  • He's 82 ! He won't have time to do us much damage anyway.
  • Didn't he buy them for a quid tho?
  • He worth £220m.

I'm old but I can't remember what you are referring to.
  • he pulled a game forward that enabled us to get the cash in early and pay the tax man if I am correct in memory

Read the comments from Leeds fans. Not good.

We could also end up with Dennis Wise as he is on good terms with KB. We need investment but there must be a better alternative to this ?
