Yes, the FL know, CAFC know, anyone that bought a recent programme or read the OS knows. The fixture clique is quite large.

The Football League fixtures for the 2013/14 season will be released on Wednesday June 19.

The season will kick-off on Saturday August 3 and will conclude on Saturday May 3 2014 with the Play-Off Finals being held at Wembley Stadium on May 24-26.

The 2013/14 Christmas and New Year programme will include matches on Saturday December 21 and Sunday December 29, as well as Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

August 3rd is a ridiculous date for the 1st game, especially in an Ashes Summer. That's virtually a whole month before the transfer window closes!

Wow someone actually complaining football is back too soon, we will have had nearly 3 months no Charlton come then so roll on August 3rd

Season starts early because of the world cup the following summer.

Sure i read last week that Celtic's champions league qualifiers next season start on July 16!!

I'll be up to Manchester that weekend as I have an Ashes ticket for the Sunday, so a local away match would do nicely. Maybe Wigan...

Is that type of attitude that makes you a loser whereas I will be at the front of the queue for the Welling game because I'm in the queue already
