Is he delusional? How can he possibly think that he can get in a spurs team challenging for Europe when hes not played in the Prem at nearly 23...? Would love him with us and Spurs cant expect a big fee for him so why not
Would love the lad at the club he's got pace and knows where the goal is but I have a feeling that he will not want to come here permanently which is a shame
Why would he not want to come to us?I can't see a Premiership club taking him.I also think he is well down the pecking order at Spurs and I can see Spurs getting some new forwards in.
Obika improved as his loan period went on and had a great final game v Bristol City. Would be very pleased if he signed either permanently or on loan for the season. A young player looking to make his way in the game, with the determination to improve. Appears to have the temperament and personality CP looks for in a player.
Think his age is key here. He's 22 and within a month of next season starting he will be 23. That's not that young and I feel that if he was going to break through at Spurs then it would have been by now. The signals are there for him. If he wants to play football and make it as a Championship or even Premier League player he needs to get out of Spurs now and build a career playing regular football. He could do a lot worse than start that process at The Valley.
Was sat on my table at POTY said he won't get game time unless they are in Europa league and that CP had told him he was trying to get him bk next season. Nice lad as well.
We got button which suggests to me that these young Spurs players aren't on huge money and that Spurs are willing to sell fringe players.
Its whether CP wants him and if we can afford him
Agree. There will be a whole new raft of good young professionals coming through the ranks at Spurs. Obika at 23, if he can't make their 1st team, is blocking the the way of their youngsters.
John - do Spurs still have that african striker who tore up the under 17 world cup a couple of years back? He was superb.
Ah. You mean Souleymane Coulibaly. Just turned 18. Currently on loan to Grosetto in Serie B, scored 1 goal in 10 games I last heard. Was scoring goals left, right and centre for the U19s and U21s since he signed. He was touted as the next Drogba as he plays for Ivory Coast but he's more like Defoe, a pure finisher but pretty small at 5ft 8. Wouldnt be surprised to see him get some English football league experience next season, just like Alex Pritchard who went on loan to Peterborough. Coulibaly, Cellabos and Pritchard (along with Carroll who's made a few appearances this season in the first XI are the ones coming through to keep an eye on!)
Scoring a double in the Prem U21 semi-final (and his appearance in the final yet to come), makes it less likely we will get him next year. Good for him though as his spell with us hasn't done him any harm and certainly helped us. I'll be pleasantly surprised if I see him in the red shirt again.

I ended up at WHL with some mates last night, Obika didn't have a great game but took the second goal in particular well (a header from a cross whilst under pressure). But I doubt his performance will have much effect on his standing at Spurs, he still missed a few decent chances and despite scoring two, he'll only have a chance of making the bench on Sunday if Defoe or Adebayor are somehow injured beforehand.
Pritchard on the wing looked very useful mind you, and Bentaleb in centre midfield looks a player too.
Someone there had heard the Obika song - it got more than one airing from the 200 or so 'vocal' fans
Wood's record was average until he went to Millwall this season. Obika has a similar record at this moment in time, just a year or so behind (even if Wood is a couple of years younger). If we get him on the cheap this summer and he continues to improve, we could be looking at a million pound plus player this time next year.
SLP reporting today we are pursuing him. Hopefully he will see sense and seal the deal to the valley. Can see him scoring some goals but feel we need to sign one proven goalscorer at championship level if we want to push for promo!
I can't see us getting him - it sounds like he's had a couple of really good games for the Spurs U21! Gotta be worth them keeping on, or at least pricing him pretty high..

One was another last minute goal too.

Bale, Defoe, Adebayor and Dempsey are all ahead of him for attacking roles in their squad, he's never going to play.

Spurs will move him on, sooner or later.
If you want to make sure he moves on quickly, I suggest you all pray that Wigan get a result against Ars*nal tonight

From his point of view his quickest route to Premier League first team has to be promotion with us?!
Not if someone like Hull or Palace (if they go up) take a punt on him
