Community Day at the Valley - Well done Charlton

As a junior red, my son was invited to a community day at the Valley yesterday. They had 2 junior reds teams playing against local sides in a tounament. My wife rushed him up there straight from school and they arrived late. He missed the junior red's first match but fortunately one of the teams, Bromley Wanderers were a player short and had no keeper so he played for them. He had a great time playing on the Valley pitch and it was a brilliant initiative by the club. It gave a 12 year old boy a lot of pleasure, playing on his team's pitch. Wish I had the chance when I was a kid! Well done the community scheme.

He was talking about the saves he made all evening. Worth the rushed trip from Hertfordshire. Bonus was qualifying for final Group without conceeding. Unfortunately they came up against a team full of older kids (Whole team were size of men!) but he did well and they only lost 2-0. Drew 1-1 in the third place play off.
  • Looking at the crowds looks more like the den:-)

Seriously, great initiative by the club
