Bringing Back Darren Randolph

  • Don't think it is a priority. We've just released three very decent players simply because they couldn't hold a place in the team...
  • Good logic tom. No proiority.

Id say we realised one superb but inconsistent player, one consistent but average player, one player not up to top half champs and one not up to champs

I really hope it means we are shopping on waitorse this summer. Who is on ur wish list?
  • Confirmed on Sky he is St Andrews bound

Sky Sports understands Birmingham City have agreed a deal to sign Motherwell goalkeeper Darren Randolph on a free transfer.

Motherwell boss Stuart McCall revealed last week that he expected to lose Randolph at the end of the season when his contract expires.

A number of clubs are thought to have expressed an interest in signing Randolph, but Birmingham have won the race for his signature.

Birmingham boss Lee Clark has been looking for a new goalkeeper to replace Jack Butland who is heading to Stoke next season after joining them in January before being loaned back.

Randolph has spent the last three years at Motherwell and he has impressed during his time in the SPL.

The 25-year-old is thought to have undergone a medical at St Andrew's and is set to become Birmingham's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Andrew Shinnie from Inverness on a free transfer.

Signed a two year deal at Brum, confirmed.
  • Brum have done well there, will be interested to see how he's come on since his Addicks days. Looked like a lot of potential there, he's done well in Scotland but it's 'only' Scotland. I daresay he'll be up against some better players on average next season.
  • Fantastic signing for them. Not overly convinced about Butland, but they've got money in the bank and a top class freebie who's only 25 instead.

Butland was MOTM at The Valley this season, kept in the game for 88 minutes so they could still be in it to steal a point at the death. Butland is class in my opinion. Also Brum have got an absolute steal there for Randolph.

I agree Butland had a brilliant game, but he then dropped a massive clanger the next game he played which cost Brum!

That's twice Randolph has signed for a club on a free, as we didn't get a fee for him either. I thought he was a good prospect though, I remember he looked really athletic when we played at Anfield on our 'last' game in the PL.
  • We could have actually been thrashed by Northwich Victoria if it wasn't for his first half performance.
  • Will never forget that save from Beckford's header in the 1-0 against Leeds. as documented should never have let him go imho.

  • Thought he wanted away for personal reasons.

being dropped for Elliott probably didn't help...
  • The reason he left was because after 5 years of coming through the ranks he wanted some assurances re a first team spot, which with Parkinson showing a preference for Elliot he was not going to get. There were a few comments concerning his attitude because of this impasse but he took a chance on a securing a first team spot elsewhere albeit in Scotland and has done very well. Good luck to the guy he believed in his ability, took a chance, and has earned himself a good career opportunity.

Being dropped for Ikeme when Elliott got injured didn't help either.

    Yeah, that was stupid.
  • his form at the end of that season kept us in the play offs , we were sliding out of them when fortunately Elliot got injured against the Gills and Randolph let in only 4 in the last 9 league games but he felt that end of season showing was worthy of the no.1 spot but Parky knew best

I'd forgotten about that. After that I had every sympathy with him (slightly akin to Evina being overlooked for the LB slot after Wiggins got injured)
  • I wouldn't swap Hamer for Randolph - good keeper that he is!
