Lot A - Charlton Ath v Swindon Town programme - 3 November 1923. This is a very old (only our third league season) programme but it is in very poor condition. The pages have all separated and at some time someone has tried to repair it with sticky tape. But it is still readable although I think you may have missed the deadline to apply for shares in the Club at £1 each. We won 3 -1 in front of 5,000 people. Opening bid £4
Lot B Charlton Ath v Swansea - 3 November 1945 (note that the two programmes have the same date) Football League (South). Another old and rare programme but again in poor condition with sticky tape repair. As WW2 had just ended and paper was still in short supply this is a one sheet programme for what was still a split north/south league. Sign of the times that news included lists of recently demobbed players and those still in the services in Germany. 21, 747 saw us win 5 - 2 Opening bid £4

Lots of generous people donating great prizes such as Steve Dixon giving me a matchworn Kinsella away shirt (green/white/red hoops), signed shirts from current squad, signed pictures etc etc but what to do with them?
Auction has been slow this week. Is that just the prizes or due to end of season and tail off of people logging on?
Should we continue with auctions over the summer or just save them up for next season?
But we're fundraising for a new upbeats kits so can't delay for ever.

Clive, did you notice the demob mention on the Swansea programme?
A lot of people likely to bid probably have a lot of Charlton items already and perhaps therefore non unique items such as the shirts in this thread will only attract a few bids regardless of when the auction is held. Unique items may need to be in a good condition for many people to want to bid and display them. Nonetheless well done to the donors, auctioneer and buyers for raising money.
With the Kinsella shirt, one option might be to hold on for a bit and see if MK will put a personalised message on the shirt if the buyer desires. Certain Lifers can probably contact MK and help arrange this, if MK agrees. Whilst this creates extra work, it could raise more money if say a son was buying a 60th birthday present for his father or a wife a 40th wedding present for her husband.

Personally I would have been interested in the programmes had they been in better quality, but if the item is wanted I am sure they will still raise plenty of money for the cause.
Do others think that signed shirts would raise more if they were framed and presented better? I know it will cost more in time and money, but would it be worth it if the finished item raised extra cash?
I have thought about the framing but apart from the cost of having it done and then postage it is a personal thing on colour etc.
