Bit torn on which tickets as both the north upper/ northwest and west stand... Plus will buying on the day be ok as not to miss out. Really appreciate the local knowledge!

If you want a bit of atmosphere, sit North Upper (central or to the right if poss).
If you prefer it a bit more sedate and closer to the action, sit in the East or West
If you want something in between, sit North West Quad

There are no real bad views in the stadium (other than the ones facing the pitch, boom boom), just ensure if E/W/NW you don't get one of the very first rows.

    Have a great day

Avoid the North Lower though, it's full of herberts that were clearly brought up living in a cave!! ;o)

Boooooo!!! It's also £25 or £30 a ticket, not worth it.

I know its quicker to go by tube to North Greenwich but getting on the bus and knowing where to get off the bus can be confusing for someone who doesnt know the area.

If you could tell us if you are coming into Fenchurch Street or Liverpool Street - if you come back on here again - it would be helpful.

Trains go direct from Cannon Street station to Charlton and takes 20 mins. Cannon Street is a short walk from Fenchurch Street and quite easy to find.

Does Cannon Street operate on a Saturday?

6 trains an hour originating from Cannon St, only 2 an hour from Charing X on a Saturday which is annoying travelling from Waterloo - God that makes me sound like a trainspotter!
  • Okay yes at Stratford get the tube.

But get the bus number 486 as that literally does stop outside the train station and will take you to the pub quicker.
  • Operation choo Choo
  • Just seen on my FB, Lib open from 10am tomorrow.
  • Leave plenty of time because the game is on Sunday and trains aren't as frequent on Sundays.
    .

The game is this Saturday btw 12.45pm kick off
Haha woops ! Was sure I had seen it as Sunday. I was wrong, sorry for any confusions!
  • Cheers for all the help guys... Reckon its london bridge to charlton and west stand for me and the mates (call me blankets and slippers etc!) But haven't seen many football matches besides the 2010 world cup. Looking forward to it! Thanks and hopefully first of many, COYR!
  • The travel card doesn't run to Chelmsford does it? Think Harold wood is the first/last destination for that on the route you take.

  • @WestSA hope you have a good journey, going to leave for train myself in a while. Don't bring the vuvuzela ;-) (sp?) and if you end up in WSK I'll give you a wave!
  • Enjoy your day @WestSA let us know how it went!
  • Yeah, nothing better than turning up on a bus. Honestly, the fascination some people have with coming by tube - which stops miles away - is unreal.

Fellas come all this way and you're suggesting he fights his way onto some smelly flea ridden pikey infested thing which takes ages to go anywhere.

    Weird.
  • Hope you enjoyed the game, WestSA? First half had a holiday/end of season feel but the second half was good. You heard the great man spea as well!
  • Just got back, what an awesome experience! Wow, my mate and I managed to get to charlton alright took the train from london bridge no problem... Sat in the west stand upper block P and had a great view of the game. First half as you said was a bit subdued but second half was a cracker! Yann's first was top draw and that chip of his, wow.. Was generally nervous for Pope to come on having never played in the football league before! But all in all 4-1 what a win, what a seaon... Chris Powell is amazing great to hear Sir Chris speak, seems like only great things in store with him in charge, and the atmosphere was quality, loved the drum. Reckon I will have to sit in the north stand just for the vibe once! Can't wait to go loads of games come august, thanks for all your help The Valley is truly a special place
  • Get yourself a season ticket mate! :o)

Glad you enjoyed your day, just remember we don't win 4-1 every game!
  • Good lad. Glad you didn't get the tube too.
  • WestSA, did two 'blonde women' tell you that you were sitting in somone's seat? Row K? Sorry if that was you! We are really friendly honest! Glad you had a good time.

    Already apeailing to me

  • No there were two girls infront of us who were told by someone else that they were in his seat donno if that helps... Basically we were the ones with backpacks. Don't worry everyone I came across was helpful and just there to enjoy the game.
