Sponsors dinner

On my way home now. Had a terrific evening. It was great to meet fellow lifers Rufusisadogsname, Isawleaburnscore, Lancashire Lad and Lass, WSS and Bigstemarra.
Bradley Pritchard is such a genuinely entertaining, honest and down to earth guy. Michael Smith was on our table too and was great fun and a lovely bloke too. Actually, what struck me most was just how friendly, pleasant and grounded all of our boys seem to be. It was a genuine pleasure.
Best moment of the night for me though, was JJ relating the story of how they attached Ben Hamer's dildo to the back of Ricardo Fuller's car...

Great night, cheers all!

  • Good stuff pal, I told you Pritchard would be great company
  • Ben Hamer has a dildo!!??!!??
  • A big black one
  • "Banter" ?
  • A great night, a super bunch of players - led by a proper Captain.

Bit sad that Waggy, Hughesy and Matt Taylor don't really know if we still want them :(
  • Good to meet you Lordromford. Also Bigstemarra, Isawleaburnscore, Lancashire Lad & Lass, WSS. For the first time I could put faces to some names on here!

What a great evening, can only reiterate how relaxed and down to earth ALL the players were, not one wasn't prepared to go out of their way & chat to us all. Spent so long talking to Pritchard & Wiggins that I forgot who I was chatting to! Also must be said how obvious it is that the whole team get along with each other.

The Hamer/Fuller/Jackson dildo story was absolutely hilarious, there was a picture of it stuck to Fuller's car which was doing the rounds on twitter... if only I knew how to post it!

Thanks again Suzie for all the organisation.
  • Where are the photos (of the night, not the sex toy)?
  • I had the pleasure of sitting at the same table as Chris Solly, Jordan Cousins and bigstemarra last night.
You will see from the attached photos where the "big" in bigstemarra comes from.
We spent the best part of 3 hours chatting to Solly about the team, the gaffer and his background.
I will provide more details when I get a few spare minutes to write it down.

Thanks to the organisers and it was good to meet a few more fellow lifers in the flesh.
  • I bet Chris has come up against bigger lumps and walked away with the ball.

Apols to @Bigstemarra about the "lump" bit....

  • Nice pics.
  • Few of me with the players & CP. Great night!
  • P.S. Hamer tweeted that he when he left the dinner he found that one of the other players covered his car with cheesecake!
  • Is Yann wearing a cardigan?
  • Oh, and the previously mentioned offending item on Fuller's car...

  • Stonemuse:
I was tempted but thought better of it.
  • Posted from other thread, in case those to whom I owe thanks didn't see:

Just got back home from various travels - the first of which was the Sponsor's dinner last Thursday, and now have the time and opportunity to express my thanks and delight following a great experience. I would like to thank Suzi, Curb it and any others for organising this - it was wonderful and you have my deep gratitude.

It was great to meet other lifers such as Delroofer, Lordromford and Rufus is a dogsname (amongst others), who confirmed my sincerely held belief that CL is truly the home of a better class of interneting Charlton fan (as I also assured Mr Solly, who had read a few less than complimentary comments on here by some halfwit many moons ago). Not only were they wonderful people, I was also utterly flabbergasted at just how friendly, down to earth and interesting all of the players were to which I spoke - not to mention very patient for putting up with the likes of me! We really do have a special squad of players and their unity, thoughtfulness, humility and sense of purpose was a wonder to behold.

Special thanks to Del, who managed to persuade me to conquer my star-struck bashfulness so that I could fulfil a life's ambition to meet the truly exceptional and utterly wonderful talisman who, I am overjoyed to say, runs our quite wonderful and truly special club.

Many, many thanks to everyone involved.

P.S What's all this Steve Davis bollox? In the past the only other people that I have been likened to have been, erm, Lee Marvin and James Coburn (mind you, that was a while ago). Cheeky sods....
