Actim stats

http://actim.pressassociation.com/

I was going to add this to the Solly thread, but though it was worth highlighting how well many of our players are ranked by the Press, with 5 in the Top 100, and how this differs from the PFA vote.

Jackson 14th
Solly 22nd
Hamer 46th
Pritchard 60th
Morrison 96th

Murray is well ahead of Rhodes in the lead
Zaha is below Jackson, in 15th.
Andy Reid is 8th
Marshall is the top keeper in 11th
Llera is 24th!?!
Bolasie (who's in the PFA team) doesn't make the actim Top 100!

  • For myself and the other ignorant, how are these worked out? Player marks from papers? Good to see Hamer fairly high.

Interestingly, the scores are aggregates for the whole season, not averages, so the more games a player plays in, the more points he accrues. Therefore, an 'average' player who is ever-present is likely to appear above a very good player who only plays in half his team's matches due to injury or squad rotation.

Another point to note is that team performance is taken into account as well as individual performance (which makes Jordan Rhodes' appearance at 2nd place all the more impressive!)

I think we can take one conclusion from this: VOTE JJ FOR POTY ;)
  • It says that those stats relate to the 2011/2012 season. Not sure how that is possible as we weren't even in the Championship then.
  • They are definitely 2012/13

That's interesting, but then consistency is a key attribute as well, and most Championship teams don't squad rotate (apart from perhaps at xmas) in the way a Chelsea or Man City would. The alternative is to take the average once you reach a certain number of games. 10? 20? 30?

For someone like Solly to be ranked so highly, when he isn't a major goal scorer or creator shows his defensive qualities. JJ's goals explain his high ranking. Kermorgant and Wiggins both had long injury absences.
