  • Yep, catastrophic appearance against Derby when we chucked away a 3-1 lead to lose 4-3, ruining my 15th birthday in the process. Was very surprised to see him turning out in the Champions League a few years later.

I remember Steve Barbe. Back in the days when we had an almost entirely British team so I used to presume that any foreign player we signed would automatically be brilliant.

Had high hopes for Emeka Ifejiagwa, but according to his Wikipedia page his entire football career consisted of 28 games across about 11 years.

Cristian Bolanos looked pretty good prior to having his work permit turned down.

  • That's Karim Bagheri - witnessed his unmemorable sole substitute appearance at Portman Road.

Never has so much excitement been generated by so many (exiled Iranians in London) for so little....I was also there Mr. L don't remember him setting the world alight during his brief cameo...

Bagheri was slighty unlucky during his spell with us, as injuries and family illness (I think he had to return to Iran because of this) meant his career never got going over here, though at least he played more for us than Cory Gibbs...

..but his presence at Charlton helped to generate a match between CIFC (the Charlton Fans team of the era) & London Tehran FC - was great fun, can't remember the score though.....

    Brian Ord,

    John "Fred" Saunders,

    Les Burns.

Just a few similarly obscure players of the 60s who fleetingly made the first team.

Brian Ord got me into trouble when I was a nipper! He injured himself and ended up on the little running track right by the little fence I was standing on at the front of the East Terrace. The trainer came on and I heard him say what's wrong and Ord said "it's my fucking knee."

In those days I had a habit of re-enacting what I'd seen and consequently later rolled around the living room floor holding my knee.

You can guess my reply when my mother asked what was wrong and I was suitably chastised for it!
  • Who chose the Ecru shirts ?
  • Tamer Tuna - last time I heard was a year ago when he was on trial at Erith Town. Has he given up football now?

  • Ross Worner has just signed for AFC Wimbledon according to my wombling cousin.

Wasnt that Niklas Anderson who had been released by Werder Bremen?
