We haven't quite managed to nail the right midfield spot. Pritchard, Wilson, Green and Wagstaff have all show good qualities. For me' Wilson was considered first choice but suddenly lost form and confidence. Hopefully he can come good again.
Don't think powell would want both right and left midfield to be so attacking, pritchard can tuck in when under pressure and consistently run for 90 minutes.
People keep mentioning albert adomah from bristol city but his work rate at getting back is terrible so doubt powell would look at someone like that.
Earlier in the season I thought Wilson had that position nailed down but he seems to have gone off the boil. If he can recapture his earlier form I think he's the #1 choice but I would feel very, very sorry for Pritchard if he lost his place in the team as a result.
Pritchard has been quality lately and is our highest assist maker. Wilson doesn't make or score enough goals. He should not and will not dislodge Pritchard in the foreseeable future.
I keep saying this .. SOOOOOO I'll say it again .. Koren at Hull ... BUT he won't come especially if Hull get promoted. Harriot has been a revelation .. is there no potential right midfield diamond in the academy ???
EDIT: I agree that Pritchard has been super all season .. but we could use a real attacking force, as Harriot is on the left, to play wide right

Agree, Wilson's form in the last few games he played was poor and nothing like the contribution he was making earlier when he was scoring and setting up goals.
Pritchard has down well there. Green had more than a few chances but hasn't done much and Waggy hasn't had a single league game on the right so no chance to show what he can do in his true position at all.

I too thought Wilson was going to nail the position down, but he was rightly dropped and since then we have looked a better team. Great credit to Pritch for adapting his game and making such an important contribution to our recent good run.
As for Green and Wagstaff - they have shown glimpses of what they are capable, but overall they just fall short at this level.

Agree totally, if playing 2 up front it's almost impossible to play with 2 out and out wingers unless your head and shoulders above the opposition in terms of quality like United when they play weaker teams.
What would be good is a genuine winger. We could play a 442 with a diamond in the centre. Genuine wingers and full back overlapping (wiggy and Harriott style) on both sides. Jacko pulling the strings and threading passes. Hughes or Rouamba sitting and holding. Lovely jubbly
Pritchard is my choice in that berth with Wilson as backup. If we can upgrade then fine but I think there are other priorities higher than right midfield.
Powell will never play with two out and out wingers in a 4-4-2, very few manager do these days.
People throughout the season have pinpointed the midfield as our 'weakness' and there's little doubt that our current upturn in form is because we've finally found a midfield four that works.
As much as Hughes has impressed, we need to see Mouamba in last few games, also Waggy was great on left before inexplicably dropped. Try him right. Then Pritch couldn't see off JJ. Who'd be a manager? Dwight Gayle, break the bank TJ, blood Gomes and we're almost there.
Do we go for the 12 month contract where the player is more expensive but can be changed quicker or the 24 month contract where his slightly cheaper but your stuck with him for 2 years even if he breaks.

Nooooo that diamond formation has been tried before and was a complete failure if I remember rightly.
Fair enough different players now, but you have to nail it for it to work and players have to be extremely disciplined otherwise its a nightmare.
I think at the moment CP has it spot on. Never seen us look so organised and almost Italian like disciplined as we have against Brighton and Cardiff.

If we are going for promotion, which we should be, it's a position where we should be looking to improve.

Pritchard-Hughes-Jacko-Harriott
Make it sound like buying a new phone. These are people you're talking about.
Maybe we could "upgrade" to a Faye, or a Traore - or maybe a Marcus Bent. Pay some **** loads of dough to do fcuk all?
I despair sometimes.
