Looking at Jackson's history, at none of his previous clubs was he at all prolific, with 13 goals for Colchester in a similar number of games to his Charlton career. He also seems to have hardly played until he left Spurs, aged nearly 24.
At the start of this season Jackson was the club's 51st leading goal scorer with 27 goals in all comps. To make it onto the all time list they publish in the handbook, he'll need to get on 50 goals. That would make him joint 25th with George Tadman and Don Welsh. Some way to go yet, but still doable. His record is very impressive for a midfielder.
It's funny how JJ suddenly turned into a goalscorer at Charlton, Pardew was a bit similar, he had a very good scoring record for us when compared to his other clubs.
Nicky Bailey was a good goalscorer for us, but has turned into a defensive midfielder at Boro.
That suggests Charlton tends to have goal scoring midfielders, to make for the non goal scoring strikers perhaps!
He bloody well did, was a midweek game. Lost 4-2, and after being three down we were coming right back into it then he scored a lovely goal. Remember it so well as the old man got done for speeding on the M3 on the way home, ha.
Doherty scored twice in that cup game. He came on at two down an looked like Pele. George graham might have been sacked if we had held on to win, the spurs fans were giving him loada of abuse.

As Max Boyce has been known to say: I was there....
Edit: no, am getting mixed up with two different games we lost 2-4 at home to Spurs.
We lost 4-2 at home to Spurs in the Premier League in 2003-04, that was the game Jackson scored in.
Just to clarify :-)
That cup game, was it 2-0 at half time so we had 6 goals in one end?
