After our last few decent performances I think people are starting to see the season as a success. It was harder for some people before because we weren't playing well even when we were picking up results.

    Good post !
I agree this season has been mental at the best of times, and everyone at the club deserve a lot of credit for the season fans included, it's been very tough especially at the valley this year,

That said, i do however believe that we are not out of trouble just yet.
  • Scp is still on a learning curve he is a new manager with years ahead of him and he has made and will make mistakes along the way but look where we are and imagine how much better he will become each season. I personally hail scp regardless of his mistakes because he loves this club and will always come through for us. RA you are dead right overall it has been s great season, nobody should expect anymore other than to stay up, baby steps.
  • The table has been tight all season and being within a few points of the play offs at one moment and almost in the relegation zone at other times has had a psychological effect on all of us. I suspect that the message boards of almost all 24 clubs have had their gloomy moments at times this season.

Two things have impacted on most of us - that tight league table and poor home form. If we sit back and look at it, it is (almost) job done. We knew that doing a Southampton or a Norwich was not going to happen when we kicked off for the first game. This has been a decent season where we have had some good results and some disappointing ones.

Next year will be equally tough, I suspect. A bit more resilience in midfield and we might have less of the jitters. It's what makes it all so exciting. I was a long from The Valley when that goal went in last night - needless to say, I disturbed peace and quiet of a 'front room' bar in Vietnam!
  • Almost there just hope we can finish strongly and try and take some feel good factor into next season after what has been a rollercoaster ride.Lucky to have been to most away games which definetley helps keep spirits up.

Three or four players away from a very very decent side.
  • I think we have been in every game this season, games we have won we could have lost or drawn and games we have lost, we could have won or drawn. What it indicates to me is that mid table is fair and we can push on if we can keep the team together and strengthen in a couple of areas. It is a big if we can do this though. We really need to sell the fact that we can make a push with limited investment next year and hope somebody gets on board.
  • Only blot(s) this season have been the loss at home against the Spanners - it still hurts. And losing twice against Palarse, although this will be put right next season. COYR

  • Mid table or above , would be a fantastic achievement this season.

I was thinking about some of the nonsense and I mean proper nonsense that is spoken on here about Powell charting helicopters for people who leave early, Andy Hughes not offering anything to the team and Golfies report on the Brighton game and wondered if my rose tinted glasses should be patented as I clearly follow a different team.

This year I have been lucky to watch a lot of football and Millwall, Palace and Sheff Wed results aside at home, all three of which still hurt, we have had some poor performances yet there is a very real chance of finishing 9th. Have seen some big home wins (yesterday included) and I am unbeaten in 7 trips on the road now with us.

In addition I have heard Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham, Stevenage & England fans grumble after abject home performances, did my being there Charltonise them all as well?

Last year was a special year and few of us will see 100 points again, this year was an average year following Charlton with a mixture of highs and lows.

I am already looking forward to more of them next year with perhaps a cup run thrown in.

You sounded lucid and sensible until your last five words,

    It's not you :-)

  • On a different note. Came across an article about the brighton game on tuesday.

Vicente said this about us 'Maybe we play better against bigger teams because they play football, they don’t only defend'

    Do we not play football?

    This!

Just one change - this has been a special year for me - to enjoy watching Charlton compete at this level in the second year of a three year plan ... I know nothing more or less than the next fan but I would hope / expect that the club throw something at it over the summer to deliver a push for the play offs in the third year - no pressure!

We did defend- to be fair - he probably meant they are more open -being kind.
