Loan players

I know the last two games have bought us four points which is great, but I was wondering why we have got the loan signings of late. Was it to just to boost the players in the team to say if you don't improve you will be replaced. It just seems that other teams sign loan players who are better than what they have and get in the team where that doesn't seem to be the case with us. Plus if I was one of the loan players would you want to be here not playing and training with a championship team rather than a the premier league team. Or are we having them with a view to sign on for next season? Just wondering

  • Hughes is game but limited, Rouamba played in ANC and is a regular for top 50 side in world. I suspect Gower may not have come if we had FR in bag. Young striker name I forget obviously with a view to sign in June,as with trialist and Smith & Cook, forwards have better sell on value.
  • I would imagine that the signing of Gower will be with one eye on a potential permanent signing in the summer. Powell gets to see him every day in training, Gower gets used to the team and can contribute as we head into the final games.
  • I agree with the original point, with other clubs their loan players are often their best players, and the first name on the teamsheet, whereas I can't remember the last loan player we had who was a key member of the team, as opposed to a squad member.

Sometimes you just need to freshen the faces in the room from what I have been told is that having Hughes back is like having a new player but he has never gone away and has been actively involved in all things however he has been really unlucky with injuries so cover was needed still

It's a win win to me you keep players on their toes you have cover you can change your tactics and style although not too much as those that come in are normally the type you have been trying to mould your team around

With the two results since mark arrived and has been involved in the first team squad not much has happend to warrant him starting over an existing member of the team and he hughes and jacko ate not blessed with pace Sony don't anticipate ever seeing them all starting together

Weren't Hulse and Seabrook used quite freely early in the season then? as were N'Guessan, Russell and the QPR winger, whose name escapes me, last season. Could be a numbers thing but more likely to be seeing what they have to offer for next season. Let's not forget CP is redhot on team spirit and he believes in all of the existing squad and the last thing he would want to do is unbalance this by showing a lack of faith in some of them. Had Hughes not come into the side and done a good job for the last 2 games or there had been no delay for Rouamba's work permit you might have seen him and or Gower by now in the team. Just my opinion fwiiw.
  • I accept the likes of Hulse and Russell as first team players, but I'm struggling to remember the last really good loan player we had, the sort who's your key player, like Wood was at Millwall earlier this season, or Vydra at Watford.
    Scott Carson perhaps?

Jackson when he first came in on loan?
