everyone will be either too depressed to venture out the door after a heavy defeat at the hands of reading... or completley hungover after spending the whole of easter monday in the pub gearing up for the stupid 8pm kick off time.
........but good if you've got a heavy weekend in Manchester lined up and want to spend monday in bed before strolling off to Charlton at about 5 or 6pm.
Then try Bromley Addicks, still the best Charlton supporters' group in the whole of Bromley..
Henry, I work in Bromley though I don't live there. Last night I was informed by one of the organisers of Bromley Carnival that we (CAFC) were not allowed a presence at the Carnival due to it beng demarcated as a Millwall supporting area. I was further informed that this is the reason that Valley Express does not have a pick up in Bromley.
Is this really the case? It seems to me that Bromley is full of Addicks. Certainly the small firm I consult for has it's fair share and they are all season ticket holders, in addition I thought Bromley CASC to be one of the stronger groups.
Valley Express is a private coach charter. Can you see Ebdons or Lewis Coaches asking for permission to pick-up in Bromley???
Even if it were run as a commercial operation (proper bus route type thing), the routings would be down to the local traffic commissioner - in this case, Transport for London.
Fair point F- Blocker, can't say that I do see them asking permission but I don't know enough about how the thing is organised/paid for to be able to gainsay the argument i got last night.
That's really my point, of course it might just be that Bromley is so close to Charlton that there wouldn't be the take up if offered and I would really like to go back with some facts, plus the fact that the To***r explaining this to me is a Stripey Nigel
Dont know about the Carnival but for Community such as coaching schemes work Bromley Borough is deemed a Palace, not Millwall, area. However Palace's provision is poor despite them having their training grd in Beckenham. Never believe what Palace fans tell you about Charlton. If we were allowed to we'd be all over Bromley and Bromley would be all over us.
However for all other activites such as Valley Express, supporters clubs we can operate where we like (see Gillingham and Paul Scally) Valley Express was tried in Bromley but with little uptake as it is so close the the Valley (7 Miles from where Bromley Addicks met to the Valley). There has or had been an Orpington stop for a while. There is also a regular away coach run from Bromley Nth station.
There are plenty of Addicks, especially in the east of the borough around Bromley, Chislehurst, Orpinton which is closer to Charlton. Bromley Addicks (Bromley CASC as was, we're now independent) is one of the stronger groups with a good committee and regular meetings.
You and your colleagues are welcome to come along next week. These are fairly informal evening as any of the Lifers who have been should be able to tell you.
What's the name of the firm? Whisper me if you prefer.

It's free,it's good and the beer is cheap. A host of Charlton Life celebrities may be there. What more could you want.

Not having a pop just intrigued.
