Hamer 6 Should have saved the second IMO. Otherwise good.
solly 7 His usual steady self.
Morrison 6.5 ok and got better as the game went on
Dervite 6 - prob a 1 in the first 20 mins and at fault for first but did well thereafter
Wiggins 7.5 - getting back to his best
Pritchard 7 - tries so hard i have total respect but needs to bulk up to make it in the Champ as a regular
Hughes 8 (MOM) - whatever shortcomins he has as a player he plays the simple ball, keeps things ticking, puts his body on the line and communicates superbly, could hear him loud and clear from the second tier. Captain material. When he plays, we win.
Jackson 7 - Good finish and did well after the first 20
Harriott 6.5 - very good first half, faded in the second.
Kermorgant 7 - worked hard, decent pen
Fuller 6 - first half he was embarrasing, diving everywhere and just pathetic. Came out in the second and was a different player. HAs set himself a standard there he needs to perform to in future.
Gower n/a looked assured on the ball and a good player Wilson n/a did ok in short space of time Haynes n/a has a terrible first touch!
Thankfully Athletico called it right, Andy Hughes whilst having to settle into his first game for ages kept heads up when we went 2-0 down, talked, clapped, raised his game and encouraged others to do same and most importantly they responded. I
Hamer - 7: A pleasure to have back. I enjoyed singing his song at the beginning - and the thumbs up he gave back as an acknowledgement. Despite the two goals we conceded - he actually made some very good saves, and I think he was a pretty big factor in these 3 points.
Solly - 9: Quality. He got forward pretty often, he miraculous managed to win throw-ins whilst dispossessing opposition players.. and his late run in injury time (just before the booking) just seemed to sum his performance up. Not quite sure what else I would expect though..
Morrison - 7: The usual kind of performance you would expect from Morrison - pretty solid really. He does annoy me with some of his backpasses to Hamer though - often they aren't needed and I think they invite the attackers to push up and try and force mistakes. (A la last year when Hamer had a few stinkers.)
Dervite - 7: He played his role well today - perhaps one or two mistakes - but overall he looked good in the defence and provided an aerial advantage to dealing with crosses. Perhaps, rather like Cort, he isn't the best player with the ball on the floor - but he does his job well. Well done for being in the right place at the right time too - his goal was taken well.
Wiggins - 8: His link up play with Harriott was brilliant, he got in some decent attacking positions and.looked dangerous going forward - yet despite this he still looks rock solid at the back. He had a brilliant game today.
Pritchard - 7.5: Standard 'Pritchard Performance' - he worked tirelessly, he was everywhere and he was truly playing with some passion and urgency. He may not have every trick in the book - but you'd be lucky to find a player to match him when it comes to sheer effort.
Hughes - 7: Perhaps a bit harsh considering how long he's been out, but he made a couple of mistakes at first - one which could've been -very dangerous-; where he appeared to freeze in possession just outside the box - before losing the ball. When he got in to the flow he looked good though, and I was pretty impressed considering how long he's been out.
Jackson - 9 - MOTM: He did what he did against Cardiff - knew what had to be done, so he did it. He put in a real shift out there and took his goal flawlessly.
Harriott = 8: He's exciting to watch, he's got skill and he also forced a few defensive mistakes by just pestering their defenders. His finishing leaves a bit to be desired - but the lad is obviously playing his heart out and he's got a lot of talent.
Kermorgant - 9: Worked his ass off and battled hard. The usual really. His freekick was absolutely brilliant - and he's unlucky that didn't go in, he was also unlucky with his header shortly after. He seemed to come back and help defensively pretty often too. Must say I was pretty worried when he stepped up for the pen...
Fuller - 7: I kept expecting him to go off, as with every knock he took it really looked serious - needless to say I was glad to see him play on for so long. At times he looked awful, yet then he'd shock you with a few moments of sheer skill. His work to get in the positions for the penalty and freekick were also superb. In the first half he was also unlucky to be denied with two of his long range efforts - yet still managed to claw us a corner with them. (Possibly the corner prior to JJ's goal?)
Subs ----
Gower - n/a Early days obviously, but he looks confident with the ball and his passing looks superb.
Wilson - n/a Looked pretty convincing when he came on - was a pair of fresh legs and provided some more energy in (a tiring) midfield. Some nice attacking interplay.
Haynes - n/a Sheer pace when he came on, was chasing everything down and helping out defensively too.
Hamer 6 Did not do well for their second goal would expect a good keeper to stop it. solly 7 his bets performance of recent games. Morrison 5 Had to many dodgey moments I thought and he Dervite do not work well together. Dervite 6 same as Morrison, gets a extra point for the goal. Wiggins 6 had a solid game not yet back to his best. Pritchard 7 got better as game went on, his defence role was very important in 2nd half. Hughes 6 Was rusty showed more toward end of first and begining of second half. Jackson 8 just did not give up and a good gaol. Harriott 7 gave them something to worry about, and seemed to inspire Fuller. Kermorgant 7 won most of the long balls and took the free kick and penalty well. Fuller 7, would have been 5 on first half performance but but was graet in second half.
Hamer - 6.5 Solly - 7.5 Morrison - 6 Dervite - 6 Wiggins - 7 Pritchard - 7 Hughes - 8 MOM, yes he was a little rusty and didn't play the whole match however he was always in space and brought those around him into play and allowed Jackson to move further forward. Jackson - 7.5 Harriott - 7.5 Kermorgant - 7 Fuller - 7 poor first half, a great second half
Hamer 7....didnt do much wrong, unsighted for the second goal. solly 6 not the best that Ive seen of him Morrison 6 Better of the two centre backs Dervite 5 Not great in the air, but took his goal well Wiggins 6 Not the best of games for him either....seems to have lost a bit of confidence Pritchard 7 Cant fault his effort, much better in the second half Hughes 7 MOM.....broke things up, kept it simple, just what we needed Jackson 7 Much better in the centre and took his goal well Harriott 7 I like the fact that he isnt shy of taking shots, long may it continue Kermorgant 7 Typical Yann, surprised he took the pen, but didnt he take it well? Fuller 5 Personally wouldnt pair him with Yann, showed flashes of what he could do, but wasnt enough for me.
Seeing the highlights, 2nd goal can't really be put down to Hamer- should have been closed down and went in off the post. Handling in the second half was very important for the victory. A couple of occasions were very good holds.
