  • I tell you, when you can't get there, you really do appreciate those that take the time to share some detail and feedback.

    Many thanks guys and girls

    Agreed - thanks all.
  • Great result, good performance, i can't believe that guy who rugby tackled Solly round the neck did'nt get a straight red. Does anyone know Kerm took the penalty instead of Jacko?
  • I thought the game turned our way before the sending off. The difference being we started closing down their players more quickly. Plus we got the rub of the green when in other games it has gone against us. Small margins in this league.
  • Thought it was a step backwards when I saw Hughes in the starting lineup, but he was terrific today.
  • Should have read why Kerm took pen.
  • For me Harriott was the MOM by a long way. His attacking play was first class and they had to put two men on him which created gaps elsewhere. I do not think I have seen such a fine performance from a winger in a Charlton shirt since Paddy.

Kettle did his best to get it all wrong and we should have had a penalty and they should have been down to 10 at 0-1.

Solly had one of his hardest games for many a long time and just about got through it. Dervitte did well with his goal and I think he has potential at centre half as he can play the ball out of defense.

At the end of the day, you can have nothing bad to say about a team that comes from 0-2 down and wins. Thought SCP got his tactics spot on - much against my better judgement. Keeping Kermit away from that beast of a centre half was brill, and Fuller holding it up on his chest made him ineffective. Great team performance. Same again Tues please.
  • Incorruptible

I don't for a nano second believe there is any chance we will lose our remaining seven games. That's my point.

We will beat Leeds for a start. They've given up, as Phil Parry said on BBC London earlier.

Could feel it at 2-1 down that we had something about us. I do get confused, by the way refs interpret the rules - the strangulation of Solly when he was through has to be a red every day of the week!!!! We won, but it was an outrageous decision to only book him. I'd love to hear an explanation as to why it wasn't a sending off. Also think ref declined to give us a penalty first half for Pritchard being held because he would have had to send player off! Certain Pen not given early doors against Millwall - if it's a foul outside the area, it's a foul inside. Won't commend the ref for doing part of his job today - they really are not good at this level!

  • Jimmy Floyd Fuller is so lazy!!! Useless big lump! ...who won us the free kick for our second goal plus the penalty for our third.

One swallow don't make a summer. So how much does that work out at - 50% of one game, good effort/performance - just like Jimmy Floyd.
lol so what did you think of his performance at Portman Road? And Bloomfield Road? And Selhurst Park? And Vicarage Road? And last month against Birmingham at the Valley?
  • Couldn't make the game today so great to see the feedback given. A crucial win in our season, hopefully Brighton will be dejected after conceding a late equaliser against Forest today.

He can look infuriating at times but we really need to play to his feet,he still has the ability to cause defenders a lot of problems as we saw today and dont think we would have got the 3 points without him today.
  • That was interesting!

A terrible start, sloppy play and Bolton deserved their 2 goal lead.

Jackson was key in the next phase, he was the one player who looked a goal threat, with some neat footwork in and around the opposition box, and excellent goal, his 36th for us, which is a stunning return for a midfielder.

The sending off was a massive moment for us, I said to the person next to me that the next 30 minutes could define our season. If we had lost at home against 10 men, then the blow to confidence could have been fatal.

To win 3-2 after being 2 nil down is brilliant, BUT, we were dangerously negative for the last 15, Kermorgant was playing like a midfielder, you'd never guess we were the team with 11 men. Our record for conceding late goals this season is terrible, and we played a very dangerous game at the end.

Hughes settled down to play an excellent game, Fuller was much better in the second half, as was Dervite who settled down.

Are we safe? Not yet, but getting closer. There are teams below us that will catch us, but not all of them. It's also entirely possible that we'll overtake Middlebrough before the end of the season!
  • Couldn't go today but what a win, especially with the results below us. Excellent!

What a feeling winning on a Saturday feels like!

On the game after 20 minutes I though we might be in for a pasting here, their first goal our defence was non exsistant, when the second went in I thought they might get complacent and they did which allowed us back in the game. At half time I thought Hughes was going to come off, though he struggled tbh too many last ditch passes and we were losing the midfield but he improved 2nd half.

Said to my Dad at H/T that it would be an important 45 minutes in our season and so it proved to be. 2nd half we came out fighting, don't think Bolton can argue about the sendings off. Harriott was the most exciting player on the pitch everytime he got the ball I thought something might happen he has a good future. Fuller looked good and won us the game with the problems he caused them. Yes we sat back when we went ahead but we wouldn't be Charlton if we didn't make it uncomfortable for ourselves

Great feeling walking away with 3 points, even more so having been 2 down, can't wait for Tuesday now. Relegation fears are still there but deep down this team has too much fight and spirit and when it matters they manage to pull a result or two to keep us away from trouble.
  • Hold my hands up
    Hate to admit I'm wrong

Fuller second half display was awsome
  • Really enjoyed the last hour of the game today but that first 20 mins was as bad as I can ever remember, men against boys and their 21 was doing as he pleased.

Nice to have a decent outlet in Harriott who can keep the ball and looks dangerous, really like the look of him

Bolton lost the plot in the end, should have had 3 sent off with the throat assault on solly and their 28 was determined to have a row, he barged into Morrison and Solly just running onto the pitch

    Badly needed win
  • Listening online while on holiday and that was a gutsy performance.Well done SCP,you've instilled some attitude in the players at last for home fans to see.An excellent effort to come back from 2-0 down, seems like Jackson's goal was crucial.Fuller too hot to handle, hope his injury heals soon, may need his experience as we push for a play-off place!! Was that the same ref as at Oldham last season when three were sent-off? Support at the ground sounded
    great.

I'd put a change in attitude down to Jacko and the incredibly vocal Hughes rather than the statuesque management team during the first half. The players have to take most of the credit for todsys turnaround.

Not sure that is fair. Players deserve credit but so does the management.
  • Great 3 points, sets us up nicely for the trip to Brighton.

Good performances from Callum, Yann, Hughes (once he'd stopped falling over) and Jacko, leading from the front.

What more can be said of Trevor Kettle? Does he enjoy being surrounded by angry players and managers after every game? I said at half time that he was just getting warmed up and that he was promising his red card an outing in the 2nd half and he duly obliged. He must have something against Powell and Freedman as he perhaps bettered his apalling performance at Boundary Park last season when he sent off three and had that all too familiar walk to the tunnel requiring the protection of stewards and officials.

Oh dear, Kap. Statuesque? You think a lot of gesticulating is a sign of an effective manager?

Taking away any bias- we won the game after all - but I would have sent off 4 of theirs. He sent of 2 for 2 bookings but missed 2 straight reds IMO! Any Bolton fans fancying a moan, should reflect on that fact.
  • Can never have a collective victory or defeat anymore it is sad really

Why can't it be the team done good from top to bottom

Including the chaplain the tea lady the ground staff the chairman the directors the players the mgmt team

The two new faces may have have just been the breath of fresh air that the boys needed

I thank em all it feels great Saturday night and waiting with real anticipation for the football league show the news papers tomorrow and the spring in my step all day

That's twice now we've had a decent side come to The Valley, take an early two goal lead and then go down to a team performance.

Maybe we should always give away two early goals?

As opposed to giving away late goals?

    ;o)
This is an interesting comment because I've often thought that sometimes it can help to let in an early goal. It makes the other team sit back more. It's far better to let in a goal early rather than later on. Of course it is better not to let one in at all.

If we are in danger of relegation then so are Burnley and Derby. I can't imagine they are losing much sleep...........

But maybe they should. On 606, it was interesting to hear a fan of Stoke believe that on 34 points they wouldn't go down, as opposed to a Southampton fan, also on 34 points, say that they they still aren't safe. I think I know who'd I'd put my money on. If Stoke don't do down this season, then they will next.

Harriot really had an impact today. He isn't afraid to have a go - sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn't but that directness and skill unsettles defences. It is something we have missed on ocassions at home. We really could have unearthed a bit of a player here. I can see him getting better and better.

Pritchard deserves a special mention -he does have some weaknesses to iron out, but I was mightily impressed with his workrate. He may have broken his own prozone record today! I think some people don't fully understand what an effect this has for the whole team.
  • Bolton manager Dougie Freedman:
"The sendings-off were difficult to take because I don't think Ricketts' first caution was one.
"The referee is only part-time and it's difficult for him to keep the intensity.
"But we put the referee in a position where he had to make the decisions."

    what a tosser

  • What about the strangulation attempt Freedman? The ref was poor there too - or do you not wish to dwell on that one? A little pathetic really.
