Fortunately I had changed my plan and parked in a road behind Charlton House rather than down by Warspite Road, but those wanting to exit onto Woolwich Road had an unexpected problem to overcome.
Shame about the 'football' - perhaps the team were turning up for a 3pm kick-off?
