Highbury and Craven Cottage are biased, undeserved mentions. blockquote>
Agree with you about Craven Cottage. Highbury wasn't atmospheric, but architecturally I thought it was pretty impressive, hence the listed building status that parts of it were given.
Shocked to see that Hillsborough isn't on there. Doesn't the author know its the wembley of the north?! Man utd, arsenal and the like are rubbing their hands in anticipation at playing at Hillsborough once more.
Bad list, some of the stadiums on there do belong but putting Craven Cottage and the Emirates there when you get more atmosphere in a library is a joke.
Juventus Stadium belongs on there as does the San Siro and Olimpico.
Best ground in England is Wembley and that should be there.

The Olimpico you are too far back. Haven't been to the Juve Arena but went to Communale, the Marassi's my second fave over there. Samp and Genoa fans are quality as well.
Admittedly haven't been to the Olimpico but from what I have seen and heard from people looks great when Lazio and Roma have the derby or play bigger sides.
Juventus Stadium is probably one of the best modern stadiums around right now.
My Serie A list only includes: Delle Alpi, Olimpico (Turin) Juventus Stadium and the Renzo Barbera which I did quite rate when I went for an Italy game.
I've seen Roma at home twice and though the atmosphere is great, it can be difficult to pick people out.
If you're going back to see Juve any time, try and double (or triple) up. Using Milan as base you can get to Turin, Parma, Bergamo, Brescia, Genoa, and a couple of smaller places/clubs.
I would like to see a list of top ten sport stadiums not just football, cos if there were surely the likes of twickenham and murrayfield would be included IMO. What non football stadiums do others think are great?
That must have been written by a Fulham fan, or someone that likes going there.
I can see why Highbury got on the list but I wouldn't have them anywhere near it.
The Camp Nou is fantastic but the Bernabeu is, in my view, just a big stadium with a lot of noise - when I went to the Camp Nou the atmosphere was average at best.
It does look like the title of the piece should have been the ten grounds that the people in my office could come up with/had heard of, as there are stadia there that are less famous than the clubs that play in them.
Yes I've just read the bit about Highbury and the author describes it as somewhere he looked forward to going to when he was a kid - in part due to the smell of frying burgers!
Indeed that is certainly the criteria for the top ten favourite stadia in the world.

I think both of them are poor. I've been to Twickenham and having seen Murrayfield from a train it looks just as grim! The Millennium Stadium is nice though, especially it's location.
The Melbourne Cricket ground would be on my list and the Dallas Cowboy Stadium.

It seems that Italy doesn't exist in this man's eyes.
They've had their day! What about Amsterdam Arena?
A little too modern and plastic, not all that atmospheric either apart from big games. Looks cool from the outside though, has got an odd UFO sort of image.
I am being biased admittedly. Got tickets from a supermarket for Peru's 'clasico' and accidentally ended up in the away end, which turned out for the best as they won. We had a lot of stuff raining down from those boxes above, haha.
I've been to the first five and not impressed with the atmosphere at any of them. Sure parkhead has a roar when they're beating the huns or 6 nil up against some cannon fodder, but they're as quiet as church mice with a dark secret if they're drawing against St Mirren after 60 minutes. The same applies to Barcelona. The other three are amongst the quietest/dullest grounds I've visted. Odd.
It's a personal choice. Craven Cottage tends to rank highly due to it's unique old stand and cottage, plus the riverside location, as the other 3/4 of the ground is fairly ordinary. Highbury was a classic stadium of its type, with the Art Deco stands and Marble entrances. I can't think of many English football grounds that would obviously replace those 2, as most of the large grounds (Wembley, Emirates, Old Trafford) aren't that exciting to look at, or atmospheric.
The best atmosphere is at the Cylinder in Buenos Aires, home of Racing Club, especially on derby day against Independiente. The fans or Barras Bravas call themselves La Guardia Republic.
Apologies for not being able to post a link for "El Mejor Recibimiento de la historia - Racing Club", on You Tube. The pre-match atmosphere for the 2011 derby is mental. Better than La Bombenera.

Would love to go to a Boca-River Plate game.
San Siro deserves to be in there, and I'd go for Uruguay's Centenario over Cordoba's place.
San Mames (Bilbao) closing?
Juventus Stadium belongs on there as does the San Siro and Olimpico.

Yeah they've built a new, bigger stadium, literally right next to it.

This one in Lima is up there for me, Estadio Monumental U in Lima. I can't post pics from work so here's a link: http://cache.images.globalsportsmedia.com/soccer/venues/600x450/3282.jpg

It's "favourite stadiums" Different thing entirely.
