Didn't Sir Fergie do the same thing with De Gea after he had a dodgy spell? He was dropped for a few games and now he's back as No.1 and looking pretty good. It wouldn't have done Hamer any harm to miss out for a couple of weeks or so. He's still young and now knows that he can't afford any slip ups. For my money, after the two week break, Hamer will be back for Bolton.

Difficult for me to judge as I have seen little of either keeper but I was not impressed with Button's distribution yesterday, How many times did one of his kicks go straight to the keeper at the other end (including goal kicks)?
If Hamer comes in again does that not destroy Button's confidence and probably force him out of the club? Four games, two mistakes and he is back on the bunch until/unless he moves on.
I have no preference but I'm just asking the question?
Button had a good, if lucky, game at Huddersfield, the last 2 games he has been shocking. Button is not of consistent championship quality. I don't care about his potential, we need a more reliable keeper in the side NOW, especially as we are going through a hard time (To put it mildly). Hamer needs to be recalled ... NOW

If you believe it's a good idea to bring in an inferior keeper for 2 or 3 weeks then restore Hamer to the position he has earned over the past season and a half, I can't agree with you.
You have a number one and a number two when it comes to keepers. The number one is the keeper you think is the best out of the two. It is up to the number two to bide his time and take his chance when it comes to convince you otherwise, whether that be through bad form or injury. That is the deal and keepers know it.
If I was the manager, I would try to be constructive. Say to Button that he did well against Huddersfield and in parts but his handling and distribution has to improve and that he could have done better for three goals we have recently conceeded. I'll tell him that he isn't far off, and to keep plugging away and be ready for when his chance comes again. I'd tell both keepers that the summer will be a slate wiped clean affair and both need to claim the spot.
Thought that too, very quick of his line. The quick surface aided him but dealt with everything he had to well.
As for Button, doesn't look good enough compared to Hamer. I didn't think Hamer should have been dropped but no doubt the rest will have done him good.
I think most people would have agreed that given Hamer's form, it was time to at least give Button a chance. I think though that that chance has now gone. Hamer made mistakes, but it was a case of a good keeper in bad form. Button has not shown very much to make me think he will get any better than he's been so far, which is not very. Perhaps if he went out on loan to get some experience/confidence he will bounce back, but Hamer is the first choice by some considerable distance as far as I'm concerned.
Don't think we can loan out Button - isn't Sullivan out on loan?
As is Pope, at Cambridge, who won at Grimsby yesterday. From what I hear, Pope didn't have a lot to do, but what he did he did well. He'll return to us a better keeper, that is if we don't sell him.

Well Sully will surely be leaving in the summer, Pope's a future prospect and not a realistic first choice just yet. It seems a shame that we spend a decent amount of money on a keeper who doesn't look like cutting it but so far it seems if Hamer is injured/out of form we're in deep doggy dung. If Button improves, then I will be very glad - but also surprised.
I know I am in a minority but as I said above I would like Button to play for the rest of this season unless he does something really stupid.Yesterday for the first he was badly exposed by the Centre Backs and the second was a good strike.
We need two good keepers in this league and I suspect after the pre-season Hamer might re-emerge as number one again but I am keen we see good competition and dropping Button may knock his confidence whilst retaining him might build his match fitness.
Both men have played over 100 games for various clubs on loan so they will see this as their big chance as Hamer was number three at Reading and Button number four or five at Spurs.

Disagree 1st goal maybe was too close to him to react but it was only a flick the 2nd was a decent strike yes but a long way out at least 35 yards and Imo he had plenty of time to get across. Even Claridge on FLS said he made the mistake off trying to get 2 hands on it instead of a one handed tip over. To his credit he had a good presence in the 6 yard box at Huddersfifld last week but sill flapped at a few and he was slow to get to the equaliser at Pboro which again went through him. Sorry but there is no time for sentiment we need points and that means our first choice keeper in between the sticks in the next match namely Ben Hamer.
I am more critical of the second than the first. I think he should have done better with it, but it is much harder for a keeper when the ball comes straight at you with no other touch from the striker, which often allows you to set yourself. It is something I would tell all young strikers, that keepers need a second to set themselves, so if you get a first time shot off, you can often score through them or with not a great shot. Having said that he lost the benefit of the doubt he deserved with the second. Far too far off his line and keepers that do that, don't back their footwork. That marries up with a major weakness I see in him and have seen in previous games. Hamer is fleet of foot and Button is a bit ponderous.
Defence has got to take the blame for the first they were nowhere,he was left tottally exposed;think he will be dissapointed with the the second himself, great strike but that was a long way out and he was well off his line.
Button is an OK keeper, but I would go for Ben Hamer each time. He made some top top saves in the games against Palace and Millwall earlier in the season.
Button for me just doesn't really have any kind of character or personality about him.
Plus NO KEEPER should be letting in a side footed goal from a free kick that was about 40 yards out.
Although Button might perhaps have done better with the goals it is not that so much that but the fact that on three occasions in the second half his distribution from goal kicks was so poor that makes me think he had an indifferent game.his kicking seemed to put Morrison in particular under real pressure to make a rushed clearance and might have led to more goals against .Hamer's very good distribution was particularly missed by comparison .
Button should have saved the free kick and I can't help feeling that he should have done better for their first as well. Hamer to be brought back in please Powell

For Dag & Red ?
Including Huddersfield
I'm confused

I thought it was a hell of a strike yesterday and have seen nothing to change that view.

Could go round in circles, clearly a lot of man love for Hamer and I really really hope he has sorted himself out if he is back for Bolton
But remember, he had 4 shockers out of 5 before he was dropped.
I'd blame button more for the first goal than the second yesterday, that free kick looked right in the top corner from where I was.
