i think even if we was to get relegated and thats a big if i still dont think changing managers would help things the guys good and hes still learning.

I agree but ultimately it's what TJ thinks and before he took over I doubt if TJ even knew who CP was.
If we win our next 2 games, we will be nearly safe. If we get a win and 2 draws above that we should be defintiely safe. It is better to be try and be positive rather than focus on worse case scenarios that may never happen. Pointless and negative speculation.
Take One game at a time. Back the team and players.
thats what gets on my tits on here people "pointless thread" yet youre commenting to tell me thats its pointless i thought the title would of been a give away.

i dare say there are a few who think that Powell should be sacked .. they are keeping a low low, low profile to avoid the flak that would defo come their way if they expressed their opinion
i mean i tought the whole idea of a forum was that we all as "charlton" fans discussed matters with the club amongst other things. freedom of speech and all that ha
So you put up a title and article and only people who want to praise, not criticise or agree with your article are allowed to comment ? If you don't want potential criticism on a article why are you posting it up ?
My opinion is that it is unlikely and the article is negative and pointless speculation. My freedom of speech tuppence worth is to disagree. Any problem with that ?

there's a lot of passive aggressive posters on this forum that don't have much going for their lives so have to exert their frustrations over the internet, dont mind them.
Back to the thread, I would think it would be ridiculous if TJ sacked powell at this point. There are a lot of armchair managers out there that some how thinking chopping and changing managers is a good thing.

why though? If people think he should be sacked then fair enough. Say so, give reasons. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.
TJ would be insane to sack him at all. Let alone in the middle of March!!
They then bring in a new manager, who brings his whole back room team, who will want to play a certain way. The manager will get the squad Chris has assembled to play his way.
Instant success is unlikely. And will put us in a far worse position.
Prime example is when Powell joined. Once the honeymoon period was over. We were woeful. Due to Powell trying to get a squad playing the way he wanted to, which was evidently clear, that they couldn't. Hence the big clear out that followed.
I can't see Powell resigning or another club poaching him yet so the only way he is going to leave is, IMHO, if he is sacked.
TJ has been said to not be a fan of CP and that without Varney CP's position is vulnerable.
That might be true but TJ could have sacked Powell at quite a few points this season when we've been on bad runs but hasn't.
That doesn't mean he'll never sack him or isn't just about to do so but personally I think CP will still be here in the summer.
The key factor then will not be what division we are in but who owns the Club.
Many of us would like to see new, richer owners and some would like to see the back of TJ and MS but with new owners come new ideas and possibly new managers.
We shall see.
As for is it a pointless thread? No, IMHO but we've gone over this ground many times before so I can see why some don't see any added value in doing so again especially when it is a hypothetical "if we lose the next two games...." question.
But I agree with VFF that if you post such a topic then some responses are likely to be negative and "free speech" means others can disagree and call it pointless if that is what they think. It was you who raised the "free speech" issue so fair enough for VFF to point that out.
This is a thread that makes people turn on each other. Not about the original post as that will be lost in the long drawn out battle of 'defining free speech'.

I agree Large .. but .. there are a few 'sacred cow subjects' as far as many CAFC fans are concerned, none more sacred than Chris Powell. ... AND .. sorry to mix my Hindu with my Muslim ..... a fatwah could well be declared against those who advocate the jetisoning of such a popular figure who will soon pass from folk hero status to that of demi god.

I think its more a case of if we keep having threads questioning how safe Powell is, I'm worrying and maybe a few others are that we are talking him out of his job.
I dont like reading threads about whether he's safe but i am a bit soft.

wasnt there an anonymous poll done in another thread, the overwhelming majority thought powell should not be sacked. If there were lots of people who think he should, it would have become clear then.

maybe, I wasn't aware of any poll KA .. but notice I wrote 'a few who think .... ' etc etc

I don't want him to go anytime, full stop. BUT if we lose both these games then I could see TJ pulling the trigger. If not now then in the summer.

do not know the answer to this rather pointless question!
IMO, yes...

In SCP we trust.
