he'd have gotten away with it if he done the challenge overhead kick styley , even tho his foot would have been higher cos it looks good they are usually allowed although someone told me crouch got a yellow for one the other day
When I first saw it, I thought it was harsh but when I saw it again, its as if Nani has a second go at him in mid-air, he makes contact but then tries to have another go. Deserved red in my opinion. Needless to say the Man U ST holder who sits opposite me at work has already emailed to say they were robbed.
Thing is John boy in full speed at the time you can not see that
I thought it in the slow mo but once he made contact the reaction of the leg is that it has hit an object and then it stops and it would seem to have a secondary movement but to me it's more because of the fact he is in the air
I get what your saying al but he is so obviously only trying to control a ball in mid air and then go on a run
Is a bicycle kick a piece of pure skill and natural flare or is it dangerous play
In my opinion of you punish attempts of skill like that you kill the game
Like Uncle said justice was done anyway, Higuain had a perfectly good goal disallowed, Rafael saved a certain goal with his hand (don't buy into the biased commentators crap about how close it was and he had no time to react, why is his hand all the way up there in the first place?)
Not to mention the constant whining from the crowd and the Man Yoo players, looking for penalties at all times and screaming handball at every opportunity.
Oh, and how much of a w@nker is Townsend? The most biased commentator in football, everything Madrid done, like their second goal, was pure luck apparently. Complete mug

A second go mid air? What is he, a f**king ninja in a Kung-fu film?

Actually I thought exactly the same but assumed I was mad. There is one camera angle that shows Nani's leg straightening after the initial contact. He's either trying to push the guy away to avoid injury or he's having a dig. Not sure which but I can see how the ref could take the view that it was a dig. And for the avoidance if doubt I like Manu and wanted them to win.
Harsh red card yes but not quite the disgrace some in the media have made out...usual story of a tackle going in and both players rolling around thinking they'll get the decision.
Fergie would have been screaming for a red if it had happened to one of his players.
100% this.
True but then so would most managers...
Just goes to show that most managers are a bunch of hypocrites.
and most fans, i no i am, some of Yann's "antics" in his time with us would have me furious but he plays for us so it is just another aspect that makes him such a hero IMO.
This is like every England campaign in a major tournament.
The media need to be able to blame something other than the team's own shortcomings. It was a red and United over the two legs weren't the better team.
Madrid also had a penalty + legit goal ruled out in the second game.
I thought it was a red card as soon as it happened regardless of where Nani was looking. Agree that Mourinho was faultless in getting his substitute on quickly to change the game that was top management.
The reaction by our media has been a joke, i know they're our biggest team but even so. Would there have been this uproar if say di Maria had kung fu kicked Carrick and been sent off. Nope.
Saw this article that made me laugh, not even from a kid either, he was EIGHTEEN!!!

Its sounds daft but the angle I saw on one of the replays made it look like exactly that. Did the referee see that? Who knows. In retrospect, if that was a Spurs player sent off for that, I would have been livid tbh.

Nani has no idea the guy is even there until it is too late to pull out of the challenge, at worst it's a booking.
Of course, head on it would be a red card, but it was not head on.
Studs up, dangerous and out of control, straight red.

If he doesn't have things his own way he sulks.
That challenge was worse than the one Yann walked for but "Fergy" is allowed to question it.
The bloke's a bully end of.

Anyway it was only Nani who got sent off..hardly the most important defensive player in the team....
Both Madrid's goals could have been avoided with better closing down etc.
What match ?
