Remember his short career with us, he came shortly after Willie Duff left. Had a great yellow Ford Zephyr car, and saw him have a good joke with Johnny Sewell about it.
RIP,Peter Wakeham. My first season,63/64,saw both Peter and Mike Rose contest the keeper's spot.Very sad to see the departure of one of the first players that I saw at The Valley.
Sad news he was the keeper when I started going to the Valley as a 12 year old. He and Charlie Wright are my all time favorite keeper's for Charlton. RIP Peter.
That is a shame.Along with a lot of youngsters we used to pester the players for autographs .He was such a nice bloke and had time for all of us.I remember in 62/63,we drew with Huddersfield 0-0.Peter was given nine out of ten along with Ray Wood, the ex Man Utd keeper .RIP Peter.
RIP Ken. I remember him, but not the circumstances in which we signed him. I think it was 64, does anyone remember. Len??
I think he was signed to replace Peter Wakeham effectively.
Maybe but Mike Rose was 1st choice playing 25 league games 64/65 Peter Wakeham 10 and Ken Jones 7. The following season KJ played 18 to Rose's 8, Charlie Wright's 9 and Noel Dwyer's 6.
I remember when we lost our unbeaten run to Pompey.Next up was bottom of the table Scunthorpe at home.We lost 0-1 and Jones had a blinder.I also remember when he played for us he got the hump with some of the crowd and stuck his two fingers up.

R.I.P Peter and Ken in my opinion you were both a better keeper than Mike Rose. I can still remember that game against Scunthorpe when ken Jones did indeed play a blinder .(did Ian Lawther score the winner). As for sticking two fingers up to the crowd Mark Hazelwood repeated this act about 20 years later.

Anyone remember this keeper. Played 27 times for Charlton in the mid 1960's and sadly passed away in January.
That really impressed me as a young lad and I later discovered that he played Minor Counties cricket too which perhaps explains his accuracy.
RIP Ken.
