Man City next two games

edited March 2007 in General Charlton
Chelsea tonight, rarely do I want a Chelsea victory tonight but this has to be one of those occasions. Chelsea though are not too good at the back at the moment and yet Man City cannot score. Saturday they go to 'Boro. 'Boro have to play Man U on Monday in a cup reply will they put out a weakened side on Saturday vs City?

It will be an interesting Monday morning

  • No Wayne Bridge, no Ashely Cole :-(

    I hope Terry is back.
  • Arguably tonight is the biggest game of the season for us.
If City were to sneak a win we are almost too far off them.
My worry is that Chelsea's players must be tired and they have become a bit of a shambles in recent weeks.
Two or three key players holding together a very unbalanced side - thank god Cech is back for them at the back otherwise I think even City could manage a goal or two.
Shevchenko is a doubt as well which is a shame because he looks a lot sharper for them at the mo.
C'mon Mourinho - do your stuff!!
  • I'd like to think that Mourinho won't throw in the towel just yet - and he'll put out the strongest team he has.

Come on, Chelsea! Oh God, have I really said that.........?
  • I'll be amazed if Manc Citeh get anything from this game. Moere of a worry is Boro' 'resting' players on Saturday although who's to say that those coming in won't want to impress to try and get in the team regularly. C'mon Jase do us a favour !!
Saying that Citeh have scored one goal in six I think. I predict a point only from these two games. They will then get beat at Newcastle on two weeks on Saturday so as long as we pick up four points from our next two games we'll go to the City of Manchester stadium only three points adrift of them. Bring it on !!
  • Citeh are in total disarray. No confidence, half the team not talking to one another... be very very surprised if they turn it around. they feel doomed and if you read the city boards they are very worried that we will catch them.
  • we're 6 points and 10 goals worse off in gd so we need a heavy defeat for them tonight .... but they're due a result, i suppose they'll save that for our visit
  • 10, is that all. No worries. They'll lose 0-2 tonite, draw at Boro and lose 0-2 at Newcastle so -4. We'll win one draw one minimum of our next two gaining two goals in the process. Now we are only 4 behind. Easily make that up.
  • one point is worth more than any goal difference so I don't see the need to ever worry about it other than possibly in the final game of a season.

    What would you rather ...
a goal difference better than our rivals ... or the point we sneaked at Watford?
  • I reckon they will win tonight! you watch, them scummers chelski, they wont be able to do us a flavour you just watch! i fooookin hate that lot and there idiot manager
  • Sheff Utd are one point better off than citeh and have played the same no of games as us. They are not out of it by any means.

Terry is back. Ashley cole will play too. Cole is suspended for England but not for Chelsea, they'll have too much for City

Similarly, Spurs may field a weakened team against Watford at the weekend, as we've got 3 games in the space of 6 days. Surely Jol has to rest the big guns with Chelski coming to the Lane on Monday night!
  • As said a few weeks ago, i still feel there are so many twists and turns left to the season. I still believe both us and West Ham have a chance of survival, and i still feel believe Man C, Wigan, Sheff U and Fulham can be dragged into it.

The only thing i'm sure of is Watford are gone.
  • I reckon Aston Villa could be dragged back in as well

    ...He says, grasping at straws

West Ham are gone, Spurs saw to that.
  • disagree Chris, though they have to win their next game. They haven't got the most taxing of run ins either, and have good quality in their squad. The confidence boost of a win could see them going on a run if their big players start playing.

I wouldn't rule out anything just yet.
  • They have to play 4 of the top 5 still plus have tricky trips to Blackburn and Sheff Utd.
Whilst i agree there will still be many twists and turns, i honestly feel West ham are gone.
  • AFKA .... I make Chris right .....West Ham have got too tough a run-in

there stands a man foolish enough to predict a west ham victory over man utd when curbs took over.
by posting this mcs, you have totally undermined my confidence of chelski tonking man city ;-(
  • it'll happen dude, and its cos i hate that chelski mob!

  • I agree with Valley McMoist, Villa are not out of it yet by a long chalk because they are not scoring many goals and could end up struggling to get up to the 40 point mark.
I think Wigan are now well on the way out of the zone but we can certainly be targeting Sheffield United and Man City and if we beat both of them then we will have given ourselves a great chance.
