If you're booking the train in advance be careful. The date of the game is FA Cup semi final day. Yes i can hear you laughing but Barnsley have a winnable 5th round tie v MK Dons. Get through that and draw perhaps the winner of the Millwall or the Huddersfield tie and they could well make the semi's. Long shot i know but worth considering.

Make sure you take an interpreter - they are fecking weird people in Barnsley - they've all got 6 fingers - shit town too.
Used to go out with a Barnsley season ticket holder (female I hasten to add) and she was a proper nutter, pretty much pre-menstrual all month long. Had a few nights out in Barnsley and the locals were ok tbf, just incredibly insular.
Remember being abused outside Oakwell by the sweariest four year old I've ever encountered. Didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Just to add, there are no foreigners in Barnsley! They think an ethnically diverse community is one with white people born in Barnsley and other people that have been to Spain and return with a suntan (also born in Barnsley).
I went to Barnsley University (ok, it was the Huddersfield University, Barnsley Campus) and it does have a small town feel. Insular as described by others is not unfair, but they can be a friendly bunch. It's a poor town really and, for the uninitiated a night out is a bit like Blackpool without the trams, candy floss or kiss me quick hats!
Blackpool without the sea, the beach, the hen nights or any of the amusements and so on.... in other words not somewhere you'd ever think of visiting.
Also we get one of the biggest away ends of the lot and it is always bloody freezing in there especially in April! Us locals will be there though, won't we Paul?
If you are coming up find somewhere to order a Barnsley chop (unless you are vegetarian). Yum yum.

Oh well, looks like I could be going to Chesterfield v Bradford then
FAC semi-final day. Would imagine Man City will beat them in the 6th round. After all that we should not be getting more than 700 so I think there will not need to be so much of a rush to get a ticket
