The feelings of a goal

I know its not manly to speak about feelings ( apologies to all the women lifers) but I just want to flag up some feelings I have been having! Against Birmingham, 80th minute, feeling slightly sad that we hadn't converted our chances, a good move down the right, several intricate passes leadind to a Solley cross for Kermorgant to power home the header. Ecstacy, but just check, no assistant referee flag, D'Urso points to the centre spot, oh joy. But what music can encapsulate these few minutes? Well I have a contender, L'estasi dell 'oro ( the ecstacy of gold) by Ennio Morricone. (from the Good, the Bad and the Ugly) The music starts fairly sad, nothing happening, still 0-0, start to develop an attack, Jackson , Solly, delightful cross. The french asassin powers in the header, it goes in! But shit, look across at the assistant referee, no flag, eyes track to the D'Urso. He points towards the centre circle, Oh Joy, Gold! We've scored! Choirs of Angels, trumpets fill the air! ( we won't mention what happened in the 92nd minute). Can anyone come up with a better contender to encapsulate the feelings before during and after scoring a goal.

  • For Charlton in particular, this could be a contender:

  • So Solid Crew 21 seconds to go?
  • Thats cheating, the songs called 21 seconds!
  • Ecstacy of Gold is a great piece of music. Also used before the likes of Metallica hit the stage. There really are some major comparisons that can be made between that and an afternoon in the East Stand.
  • Klaxons - It's not over yet.

When we go 1-0 up with 10 minutes to go , surely its got to be 'Always look on the bright side of life'
