Went in there again on Saturday after boycotting two seasons ago. Nothing has changed, crap service, crap beer, plastic cups etc...... I am not in the pub game but how can people get this so wrong.
It's been even longer since I was in there but I went in before the Huddersfield cup game, having got to the ground early to get a ticket and finding no queues! To be fair to them, the service was absolutely fine but I'm not a fan any more (of the re-design) and plastic glasses just annoy me. Will stick to my local in future.
I still go in there every week, mainly due to the convenient location and the fact that everyone I know drinks in there, and has done for years and see it very much as their pub.
Whilst the service is still poor, it is definately, in my opinion, better than last season. The new landlady is trying her best and at the start of the season had no experience of working in a 'matchday pub' before and was very much thrown in at the deep end due to the ex landlady Danielle being 'asked to leave' by the brewery.
It frustrates me as much as everyone else how long it can take to get served, it seems to me its very much people standing in the right place at the right time to get served rather than there being some sort of system.
I agree that the pub has seen better days, what the old landlord Clive was ever thinking when redecorating the pub is beyond me, I wonder what he is doing now, although I have a pretty good idea he wont be running a pub any more!
So, as I say, I see slight improvements on last season, but the more people stay away, the easier it is for me and my mates to get served!!
I had heard there was a new landlady in and she was making improvements? Seems not then.
I had a bit of a sesh in there on me jacks before the Posh game, only me in there from about 12 till 6, apart from Jonathan doing his knitting! The new landlady seemed okay, but can't see her turning the place around meself. Where you and Ian drinking now B? Me brother seems to be using The Dial Arch quite a bit?

Match days would be the Bugle or Swan now. Given up on the oak.
The garden was ok a couple of years ago though.
