Pretty much every person who has been to an away game in recent years will have been at Operation Ewood and so probably aren't too motivated by going back for what is very much 'just another game'
I've always enjoyed going there (just counted and have been there 6 times), even operation ewood was a good day out. Did someone say that the pub that used to welcome away fans is now shut?

Our coach that day, (due to an accident on the M6?) diverted up the A6 through Buxton and the Peak District, then Stockport, so a scenic drive but we only just arrived in time for the game...
Looking at the away fixtures this season, it does seem that a lot of the attractive 'mid distance' games are all midweek - Leicester, Brighton, Cardiff in 2013 are the midweek away games, all games that I'd probably go to if they were at the weekend.
Me the wife and boy going up.Really hope the away pub is open!
It's closed matchdays.
The traditional haunt of away fans, the Fernhurst, has recently been refurbished and is now part of the Hungry Horse chain, however it is currently closed on matchdays. This leaves very little choice for visiting supporters, as most pubs near to the ground do not admit away fans. There is the Golden Cup pub which is further on past the Fernhurst (going away from the ground) on Bolton Road and is tucked in by the motorway bridge. However this Thwaites pub is quite small, gets rather crowded and it is a good 20 minute (mostly uphill) trek from Ewood Park. It is friendly though and also offers a range of pies.
If you are arriving at Mill Hill station, then you might want to give the Navigation pub a try. It is a Thwaites pub which sits on one side of a canal and on my visit had a good mix of home and away supporters. It is about a five minute walk way from the station. As you exit the station turn left and proceed straight on up the road in front of you. As you approach a bridge going over the canal, the pub can be seen just over on the right.
Whilst just around the corner from the entrance to Blackburn Railway Station is a Wetherspoons outlet called the Postal Order. Alcohol is also served within the ground in the form of; Fosters (£3.40 pint), Thwaites (£3.40 pint), Kingstone Cider (£3.20 bottle), Carlsberg (£3.40 bottle), Guinness (£3.80 can) and Wine (£3.80 small bottle). The Club offer two pints of lager or bitter for £6.50 and Pie & Pint for £5.50.

I've got 4 tickets, but I got them in December along with the rail tickets, so I am in the original 119. The Wetherspoons (Postal Order) is ok, but there is not much more choice. There is a pub called the Last Order? by the station that is a dump, avoid. I will be getting up to Blackburn on the train by 10.50am and then pub crawling to the game starting at the Postal Order.

I should have called it a day after pitcher 94, lost every other time I've been there since

There are a couple on the main road towards town, 13k at game, not high profile, so imagine should be no probs with people without colours
Mind you it said that on the concourse at Hellsborogh ...but the computer said NO ! Not a happy Fanny that day for more than one reason.
