Ben Hamer having a 'worldy'

He was awesome today. Kept us in the game at the start and got a point for us at the end.

His double save was out of this world to, save's of the season.

How anyone can doubt him now is beyond me, one of our players who is consistently Championship class.

  • Agreed. Proving to be a very good keeper and of huge value to us.
  • Agree his best game in a charlton shirt! Outstanding!
  • He was excellent. Showing " worldy" form just as the transfer window opens.
  • He's a good keeper.

Will make the odd mistake from time to time, but they all do.
  • Was you there offy?
  • No. Didn't bother as I was frightened of the rain. Did you go nolly?
  • A poor booking. Read what the laws of the game say. Hamer booted the ball to the corner and it bounced and wound up near the flag. If he'd hung on to it then he'd have been fine. Silly thing to do, kick it away, but a poor caution from thereferee.

Referees must caution players who delay the restart of play by tactics such as:
    • taking a free kick from the wrong position with the sole intention of forcing
the referee to order a retake
    • appearing to take a throw-in but suddenly leaving it to one of his teammates
    to take
    • kicking the ball away or carrying it away with the hands after the referee
    has stopped play
    • excessively delaying the taking of a throw-in or free kick
    • delaying leaving the fi eld of play when being substituted
    • provoking a confrontation by deliberately touching the ball after the referee
    has stopped play
  • I thought he booked him for showing dissent. Ridiculous either way you look at it.
  • No thanks for asking though offy

We can do without all this praising of Solly though :-)
  • Outstanding performance.
  • Powell's fault.
  • Excellent display in difficult conditions.
Gets only 9/10 from me because he failed to save the penalty!

But on that basis, he was speeding up the game as opposed to delaying it ie by sending the ball on its way to the corner flag.

Utter madness today by the Yellow Peril.

This! Kicked it right to where the ball would need to be at the restart. Too smart by half for our ref today obviously.

Fantastic game from Hamer anyway. Saved two 1:1s and another two or three cracking saves.
  • The booking was a complete disgrace - Hamer's kicking is very accurate - there was some frustration on his part, but kick was directed to corner flag where it needed to be. Ref was a bit of a joke yesterday. They seem to think it makes them look good if they don't favour the home side but there are two problems with that - they need to be careful not to favour the away side as a result and what does it prove - this is Charlton - have they the guts to ref like that at Old Trafford or Anfield - have they hell. I hate these refs who clearly have never played the game and we are getting too many of them.

During Palace's 9-0 humiliation against Liverpool, didn't Ray Wilkins get booked for throwing the back to the referee in a sarcastic manner? I guess the ref yesterday thought Hamer kicked the ball back too aggressively?

Most refs have never played the game, but then how many former players want to take up refereeing? It's not like cricket umpiring, where you stand still and can go on to old age, refs have to be fit, and have only a short life at the top.
  • To be completely honest, when he did it I thought he was trying to hit the Lino who had given the corner. That would've hurt.

Of all the decisions in the game I think there is less to complain about on this one.

    Tin hat on

He done it out of frustration. How often do our players hurry the game up when the oppo team have a corner unless were 1 down.

It was no different to a player throwing the ball into the ground out of frustration. Its a booking but the ref is still a berk
  • Just a shame he comes across like a playground bully on twitter.

Really? Think he and the likes of Jackson, Hughes, Evina and Wilson all come across well. Seem very tight knit.

Yeah all seem like normal chat between really good mates.

Are you on drugs? Comes across really well and a right laugh. Seems to love paying for us too.

  • For most of them it's banter but there's a bit of bullying type that goes on from him to Evina . He does that classic bullys thing of having a pop then getting all over exited when he gets a "nibble" .

Bit pathetic from a grown man.

I've seen Evina dish it out so you're being well over dramatic
