I just want us to get back to basics,Id like to know what Powell and the training staff are doing on the training ground with the players because they just cant make simple passes, even the defense has gone to pot.

They do nothing on the training ground. They turn up every day and play cards.

    Hope that answers your curiosity.
That would probably be less embarrassing for the players and the management,The fact that they do go and train and then produce displays like yesterday is laughable.
I'm sure they did it on purpose, just to "please" you.
    Lucky me.

.....when i first started going to cafc in the mid eighties we didn't live in this crisis culture we just got on with it!

    Well said.

So much today seems to be kneejerk over-reaction.
Too true Oggy ...seems to be a fact of life these days, instant gratification always required
    Too much wanking?
  • Top post supaclive! It's crazy that I'm sure many that were there in the 80s are some calling for powells head. Couldn't agree more with the OP.
  • No he is not playing the right players how many times do we need to say play players in there positions he is playing cm on the wing with no pace or crossing/skill to play in that position wagstaff and green have not played any games this season! Why!! Last season they looked good for this league so Bradley is a better winger than them two!!no fucking way. Haynes up front when we last had a winning streak but now playing him on the wing!! Sorry but he has the players there but he is not using them!!
  • I do not think SCP is beyond criticism. He'd probably be the first to admit that he is getting a lot wrong at the moment. However, for those who would have him out, just take a look at the names on the odds lists for the Forest and Blackburn jobs and tell me honestly if you would rather have any if them here! No, thought not.
  • There's always speculation at every football club when results aren't going the right way! Why is everyone acting all disgusted and surprised, and why are people threatening to withdraw their support for The Club? Ffs

As i have mentioned a few times, much more to the club then blindly supporting a name & badge no matter what the situation is.

    Exactly
  • Im one threatening to withdraw my support if SCP gets the sack in this situation as for me personally we would no longer be the club i love after the other leavings and going on's this season, we would just be something new with the same badge/name/ground and take out all the things that made me a Charlton fan and i can find much more enjoyable things to do in my limited spare time.

I would just be waiting for the day new owner's come in and hopefully restored the soul of the club.

  • understand what you are sayin donvito, but he played green yesterday and left out pritchard, the rest is history.

I take it you weren't a regular over Shithouse Park or Upton Park then.......
  • We had all this after the Middlesboro game still 100% support from me for SCP NB we beat Cardiff 5-4 just 3 days after there will always be ups and downs surely people must get used to it eventually. I/we (me & sons will be there next season relegated/promoted/boring mid-table or what ever
  • whatever we think I believe it will serve no purpose in sacking cp mid season. we know how that has gone in the past for us and look at Henning Berg now. if the board have any sense and money they will give cp the transfer window and see how he does. the time for any coaching changes if needed will be in the summer.
  • I see what you mean clive but i would like pritchard to play in his position of cm which he did well yesterday when he can on! playing too many players out of position just dont work. I like pritchard and jackson but in the middle of midfield

No as im 28 and did not start attending Charlton matches until the mid 90s and as a side note who know's what i would of done in that situation but at this time in my life where i currently spent 3 quarters of the year travelling the world with my work which can involve plenty of stress, i dont wish to put my small amount of spare time when possible supporting a regime that could potentially of destroyed nearly everything that was a big part of why i love Charlton.

Personally assuming the terrible thing did happen and they sacked SCP and i had a choice between success and a higher league postion or supporting Charlton in 3/4 or even more divisions lower but with PV, RM(in a more important role) RE and club legend like SCP in the dugout i would choose the lower league every time.

I choose the soul of the club not the badge and name.

Luckily on a lighter note, im confident we will get a result Saturday on my first trip to the Valley in a season and a half as im currently on a 12 match unbeaten run of Charlton matches i have attended, COYR!

  • Cannot believe the overreaction on here to everything sometimes. Makes me wonder why some of you have nothing better to than go an internet forum and moan and abuse others over the Xmas holidays
  • This forum is great but at the same time ridiculous. So many people get so caught up in a single game.

If we win, we are basically going to get into the playoffs based on that performance, Chris Powell is a god.

If we lose, well, we are definitely one of the worst 3 teams, time to replace Powell?

In reality, we are probably going to finish mid table, and yes, Chris Powell is a god.

It's a huge overreaction. Yesterday wasn't great by any means but why people can't see the bigger picture baffles me. We are a newly promoted team with a some of our players that in all honesty havn't and might not make the step up in grade. That wasn't the plan as players that are good enough were not signed in the summer. We are not a million miles from being comfortable and four perhaps three astute signings could tip the balance in our favour. Powell is working with what he has and doing the best he can with the tools given him.

    Agreed.

I think some people like Reams need a reality check, Reams claims to know everything what is going on and feels he is right on everything. Starting a thread called "He can do no wrong in some people's eyes" is childish and pathetic, everyone has an opinion whether you like it or not.

The fact is, we did not get 101 points because we were lucky. We played some decent football and we deserved to go up. However, some players are getting found out by stepping up to the Championship simply because they are facing a real challenge or are just not good enough.

We should have bought some players, we failed for whatever reason but I am not jumping to any conclusions of rumours that have been circulated since the start of this season.

To suggest Powell should be sacked is ridiculous, it's 3 games we have lost in a row and we are not the worst or best team in the Championship. I will be happy if we finish mid-table and then push on further. Sacking Powell is not the answer because we won't have anyone better to replace him however if we are 1 point away from the bottom 3 then we should have a cause to panic.

This reams bloke sounds like a man that makes up rumours to feed his own agenda and ego. Extremely weird.

  • he can't do no wrong......hmmm #grammarschool ;-)
  • Yesterday cost me an extra £80 bringing people to the match.

So frankly you can stick all this 'bigger picture' stuff. Just not interested.

We have some very well paid players who were not putting it in yesterday.

    Btw what was the crowd?

  • Btw what was the crowd?

It was the collection of people sitting in the stands shifting uncomfortably in their seats and muttering at every misplaced pass.

    Hope this helps.

Steady, or he'll be offering you out next. You'll be on the list.

He was gonna fill me in, apparently. Well, I'm still here. I even went and introduced myself to him last year and he was as nice as pie, as I was to him.

Strange man. I've no doubt his heart is in the right place deep down, he just has a different way of "supporting" the team/club to most of us. Each to their own. No need for all the schoolground bullying tactics/threats.

You are interested in other things tho.. You declared Powell must go on your twitter yesterday and more. Thought it was a bit extreme myself.
